Oh yuk. Poor thing.

My brother has just pointed out a potential problem with me leaving Timmy out on the patio. We have red kites round here now. I know they usually eat carrion, but I don't think exclusively. Anyone got any idea whether a red kite would be strong enough to carry a small tortoise away?? He's about the size of a large bap.

Well, I don't know, but it might be a good idea to check if anyone in the local area is called Aeschylus

 Well, I was sort of wondering if the red kite might go on a bombing mission somewhere in N5 ...

Bunny do you have a tortoise? I'd love a tortoise - are they hard to look after?

Well, let's put it this way. I do HAVE at tortoise. I sort of wish I didn't, because he's a pain. But he was mine from the age of 2. He used to live at Mum's, so of course now I have to have him. The problem is that he's used to being allowed free reign of the house, and wakes up in the middle of the winter and wants to sit by the gas fire. He's not impressed by the English summer AT ALL.

Seriously, you wouldn't want him. Once you've stepped in tortoise wee a few times because he needs to be indoors, yet if you put him in a box he just scratches constantly to get out, you'd not be too impressed. If I put him in a box he has scratched for so long that he's worn all his claws off. And even though he's a total pain in the neck I sort of feel responsible for him.

SparkOut's already kindly volunteered to have him, but even though he's annoying and I moan about him, I would feel bad to give him away.

Yes, along with George Clooney. They must be having quite a party. Good job SparkOut and George both like cucumber and dandelions...

You know it sounds like quite a good party, why wasn't I invited? I'm sure I''d enjoy the company. ;)

Nah, that's an all boys' party. Anyway, there was me thinking you were a respectable lady... Obviously I was wrong... You have to be on the outside, with me, drinking the wine and poking the cucumber through the grills...

Ah, well I KNOW what he looks like. I have a mental image of him burned into my brain forever after the man in the hotel thought we were on a dirty weekend and insisted we MUST both go into my bedroom together. I'd met him for the first time that afternoon.  The mental image I have is of someone highly amused and somewhat embarrassed, all rolled into one. I haven't laughed so hard since Scurra had to have his bag checked at the British Museum and he had to confess to having fluffy bunny ears in there...

Well, if this forum isn't good for anything else it's good for laughter therapy...

I don't like cucumber. (See - I am annoying. And she does moan about me, plus she kicks the slats of the crate when I'm trying to sleep)
