Re: Cats
The only thing I've noticed about my friend who had the op was that at night, if you're sitting in candlelight, the light reflects off the new lens in rather an eerie way. It makes her look somewhat demonic...
However, she can see perfectly now and has had no problems at all. So here's hoping it's the same with Ian.

Re: Cats
My cat used to do that. Now she just glares at the cat in the mirror. She's hysterically funny with the tortoise though. She's REALLY scared of him!!
I think she just sees this rock advancing towards her and doesn't know what to make of it. Of course, when she's run away, she always THEN starts licking herself as if to say "No, I meant to do that."!!!

Re: Cats
Last night, I kept being woken up by a crackling sound, which sounded for all the world like hail hitting the window. This morning I discovered what it was. My cat had found a wicker BREAD basket which was waiting to be put away on the windowsill and had decided it was a lovely cat bed. She's still in in now. The bread basket can't be any more than 8" square and very shallow. Consequently the stupid cat is bulging out all over the place.
How that can be comfortable, I will never know!
She has always loved to get in boxes. If we ever play a board game and leave the lid upturned, she can't resist getting in it. If I am in the garden planting things in pots, the cat is in the pot.

I have a lovely picture of F when he was about 18 months old sitting in a plastic storage box that we kept the Duplo in. He probably thought it made a good boat / car, it was one of his favourite places to sit....on top of the Duplo. I can't imagine that was very comfy!

Re: Cats
When they are little they are so cute doing things like that. Although I must say, a friend of mine, who has two boys who are the apple of her eye, used to go on about how sweet her 11 year old was because he'd got inside a cardboard box. Thing is, if most kids of that age did that, it would be to make people laugh. This boy, it was obviously just to please his mum and make her thing he was sweet. YUK. So my other friend and I went out of our way to take photos of us in various cardboard boxes to make a calendar for her.

Re: Cats
Last time I visited Scurra, his cat decided to climb into my overnight grip bag and take possession of it. She stayed curled up tight and fast asleep in it despite it being half full of bits and pieces (like brush, comb, sponge bag, hairspray, book, and various other uncomfortable things) . Problem was, after throwing her out I had to get rid of the cat hairs which were all over my nightie

Stoopid cat is still in there now...
And my friend's Mum killed her kitten by doing that, Giraffe.

Re: Cats
I know, it was awful for her, terribly traumatic.
But I do tell people (even though it is horrific) because if it makes one person think twice before leaving the tumble drier door open when they aren't using it, then that's good. The thing is that the tumble drier is warm, and cats like to get in there and go to sleep.

90% of YouTube is "funny cat videos".
(Twenty years ago I used to say "90% of the Internet is Monty Python". This seems to have superseded it.)

Re: Cats
It is really funny though. I love the cat with its head in the tissue box. My cat does that, too.
She also does that dancing on her back legs thing ( out from behind the bathroom door). Not terribly elegant for an old lady of 13, but there you go.
