Thinking of you all, and hoping it all goes smoothly so he can return to normal bounciness asap.

It seems to have gone well so far. He is now back on the high dependency ward with, and I quote from Lilsis, an "awesome turban".

She'll live. There was great excitement when she was allowed to take the lid off her beaker to drink the last drops of milk. She soon forgot about cake.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Roo was discharged from hospital at lunchtime today. It seems slightly ridiculous that he could have had half his skull taken apart and put back together on Monday and be allowed to go home today, but he's been running around and colouring and playing with a balloon and arguing with his sister as any three-year-old should. He just looks like he's gone ten rounds with Mike Tyson. His head is seriously swollen and he has two black eyes and bruises all across his nose and cheeks, and he's got to take about 5 different sorts of medication, none of which he's too keen on, but at least he'll be back in his own little bed tonight.
Re: Today I've mostly bin...
That's really good news Laura. He must be doing well to be let out so soon.
Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Oh that is good news Laura. It must be such a relief for all of you.
It does sound very good progress.

Phew!! Three year olds mend so fast it's incredible, don't they? I expect it's all the adults who are feeling like they've gone through the mill with all the worry though!! Glad he's home safe.

So glad it went well and he has taken it in his stride - though no doubt he is being watched like a hawk by everyone else!

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Meant to say, the wedding I went to the other weekend had a REALLY unusual seating plan, made by the groom's daughter. The groom is a bit of an aficionado of the London Underground (one time on a quiz night, we got 20 /20 for the table quiz because he was there!!) This made me think of a previous PB mag...

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
... auditioning the new conductor for our choral society. We've had 5 men audition over the last 3 weeks and I reckon we all want the last person to get it. He was fab! Made us laugh as well as work. Really knew his singing (unlike some of the others). We'll find out next week. Our previous conductor was brilliant and brought us on so far in the last 4 years, so we need to make sure we get someone who'll build on that, and I think this one could. But at least he gets an easy start to next season - our first concert is Messiah, so at least he won't have to teach us the notes.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I hope you get the chap you want, someone who connects with the group will definitely help. I must say, I did laugh...I got a phone call from an old colleague last week (someone I used to work with about 30 years ago.) Her choir leader is retiring and moving to Devon, so they need a new person to run the choir. I was absolutely gobsmacked. She asked ME if I would be interested, because she knows I'm musical. I burst out laughing...saying "Errr...well, I'm very flattered. But you do realise that I can't actually SING, don't you?"

...To Shaw's Corner at Eyot St Lawrence.
It's an interesting house, and we saw his nobel prize and Oscar on display too. Also had a walk around the ruined church AND the "new" church, which is in Greek temple stylee...
Then had a nice lunch in the Brocket Arms. Came home and had quite a few people turn up for drinks and nibbles...oh, and cake. (It's D's birthday today.)

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
...... wondering how little Roo is getting on? Laura - hope things are progressing well
Re: Today I've mostly bin...
He's doing really well. He was quite anaemic but they let him come home with iron to take, but he wouldn't take any of his medication, including painkillers, so the iron is now hidden in little pots of jelly, and he's painkiller free. He doesn't like having his scar cleaned and he's more tired and grumpy than he normally would be, but otherwise he's pretty much back to normal.
I spent Monday playing in the garden all day with him and Flossy, on tricycle, in the sandpit, up and down the slide, playing football. It seems quite ridiculous that a week earlier he'd been in the operating theatre! He's got to have a wound check sometime soon to make sure everything is healing as it should be, and then a six-week check, etc. But it all seems to be going as well as anyone could hope so far.

It all sounds pretty good so hope the doctors agree when he has his check-ups.
