Magazine

#1 Post by katsmom » Wed Oct 01, 2008 2:34 pm

First, Thanks Gill for giving me the heads up!
Now, How do I get the magazine? Will there be a subscription? Or will I miss out again like I did with DVC?

Yes, you will be able to subscribe or, alternatively, just buy individual issues.
The puzzles will be made available on-line as well as in the print form, so you will be able to do them even if the physical magazine actually takes longer to get to you! We're still working out some of the logistics, so please bear with us.

Have you got a date for the hard copy?

I'd love to be able to give you a concrete date, Brian. At the moment, the projected date is 1st November. However, it will hopefully be earlier than that if the schedule works out. We decided to open the site up early, so that people could begin to find their way here; naturally it's frustrating if there is no new "product" immediately available, although the site will be updated with new puzzles regularly.

As I said to katsmom, we're still working on the logistics of distribution. But there's no reason in principle why you won't be able to get it in Spain, or Hong Kong, or Antarctica or the Moon (although the postal surcharge may be a little high there.)

I think you might have a couple of new members on here soon, a pair of runers have got wind of the new magazine, so it looks like I'm going to have to buy 3 copies.

You say that it can be paid by cheque. Does the bit you get to after the submit button tell you where to send it to? I have had problems with paypal before, so tend to try to avoid it.

OK, I shall change the text there. Yes - the cheque payment details are on the next page.

Blimey, that looks posh. And scary. I hope it'll be suitable for ignoramuses like me. Especially as I may have paid for it twice by accident! :?

That's why I prefer to avoid paypal. Even if you only pay once they sometimes send the money to the wrong person.

I eventually remembered my paypal credentials (had to go and look up redfraggle's sponsorship thread over there) and signed up. Seemed all to go OK.

Well I inadvertantly pressed return half way through the Paypal form and had to start again so I hope I haven't paid twice too. And I wasn't keen on giving them my phone number as there didn't seem anyway I could say I didn't want them to use that so I hope the number I gave (0000000000) won't muck up the system. ;)

Interestingly I gave my office e-mail address to Paypal but used my messenger e-mail when I first registered on this site. And I got a confirmation of order to my messenger e-mail but a confirmation of payment to the office one!!

Well for some reason it keeps saying that my card is already registered to a paypal account......but I've never set one up - also tried using my credit card and got the same message! :?

So - unfortunately I can't order it - weird or what!

We would dearly love not to have to use a system like Paypal at all. But until Puzzlebrains is a vast, multinational corporation, we have to use some external services. Unfortunately, this means that at times there will be problems between the two sites, or with individual transactions.

So, for the time being, we can only apologise if people have problems using any part of this process; please make sure that you contact puzzleadmin@puzzlebrains.co.uk if you have any difficulties.

Thanks.

Blimey. I just, as an experiment tried to google puzzlebrains to see how far up the list it came. It was top. THEN I spotted the "blog". I'm not entirely sure I know what a blog is, but I'm sure I'm about to find out! :geek:

Yeah, but we don't show at all if you try "puzzle" "brains" as two separate words.
And I'd forgotten about the blog I'd set up, although it wasn't supposed to be visible to the Googlebot. Hmmm.
