On me 'olidays

#1 Post by Bunnylump » Mon Aug 30, 2010 1:02 am

I always think it's such a shame when people go on holiday and then don't feel they can tell people what they've seen or done ("in case it's boring"). I love to hear what folk have done, and to hear their perspective on different locations. So, I decided to start up this thread. I actually wrote up some random thoughts about my holiday (I like to look back on it and remind myself what it was like - a bit like reading my own "travel guide". OK, so it might bore the pants off you. I will warn you that it is 7 pages long, and as you would expect from me, quite random! I have also unashamedly drooled over my experiences. I'm not trying to show off (goodness, a trip to Corfu is hardly ground-breaking!) but I really did have a fabulous time. Oh yes, and it gets a bit gooey and slushy in places, so you'll have to ignore that too, if you value keeping your dinner. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Now removed, since I think anyone who would have wanted to read it would have already!!

that is just wonderful Bunny. :D Sounds like you had a fantastic time and I could just imagine the places you went to - since you didn't provide any! Where are the pics???? You can't tell us about those wonderful views and then not show us them.

Ah, that sounds amazing! Not sure I'd cope well with the crickets and butterflies and lizards if I went there though! :?

That sounds wonderful bunny. :D

Added consolation - the weather here has been absolutely dire while you've been away. ;)

What a fantastic write-up and a lovely bit of poetry - it managed to capture a host of elements you talk about :)

Happy Anniversary to the pair of you, and I can just see you on that speedboat in another 25 years ;)

 Thank you.

Pictures are yet to come. Haven't had time to put them on the computer yet!!

We were staying in a place called Agrilias, Avlaki, which is a few miles out of Kassiopi, in the beautiful north eastern side of Corfu.

Oh yes, forgot to say Happy Anniversary bunny! It sounds as though it was truly memorable. :D

We've just reached 32 years  . To say we celebrated it would be a bit of an overstatement but I did get a card before I went off to work on Thursday.

Thank you so much for sharing all that with us. So glad it was such a wonderful time, especially to have such a romantic and memorable anniversary.
It reminds me of the fabulous holidays which we have spent on Crete in the past - another beautiful and unspoilt island, once you get away from the tourist beaches.....(!) The first time we went was also to celebrate our silver wedding, although I have to confess that we went in April (rather than August for the day itself), as we wanted to enjoy the glorious (and famous) spring flowers, rather than melt away in the heat of the summer sun. I did enjoy the food, however, as in Crete they eat loads of fish - straight out of the sea, depending on what was caught that day - fantastic!

Gee thanks! Just what I wanted while I was eating my breakfast!!!

Last day of my holidays today - back to school tomorrow. Went to Whitby yesterday and walked miles. Climbed hundreds of steps. I'm feeling ever so slightly achey this morning!!!

Pretty bug.
Calm pool.

Nice :)

Don't change it, but is that bug picture the right way up?

I've just got back from three days in Switzerland. We were staying in Lugano in the Italian speaking part. It was very beautiful, on the banks of the lake but surrounded by mountains. I have walked my feet off, and because it is so steep there many of the alleys and footpaths are steps to cope with the angle. I feel like I have turned into a mountain goat.
