I just have to share this product with you all. THIS IS NOT SPAM, IT'S FROM ME!!!!
Oven Pride oven & barbeque cleaner. Not cheap (£5.99 on site) but worth every penny. And if you sign up as a sample tester FIRST they will email you back a 40% discount code which you can use before you buy. Works out at £3.60.

Stick all the loose bits of your oven & hob in the supplied plastic bag, squirt in the liquid , seal up the bag and just watch it go to work!! Rinse off the muck in hot soapy water.
The recommendation is half the bottle on the racks and bits, and to use the rest on the surfaces (NOT SELF CLEAN LININGS!) I've just used 1/4 of the bottle and my oven has never looked so clean since the day I bought it.
I don't care what it contains. It works. And you get a free pair of rubber gloves!!!

Wow, that sound worth looking into. Thanks Gill
Re: Miracles do exist.
I'm not sure if it's the same product, but I tried something like this just before Christmas. I wouldn't use it again.
I put the bag on the floor with all the trays in, nice and sealed up, and kept turning it every few minutes to make sure everything was coated. I didn't dare lean it on anything incase there was some on the outside of the bag.
It said don't use on vitreous enamel. (How do I tell if my enamel is vitreous ?) so I didn't dare use it on the oven itself)
Then while cleaning the rest of the oven I trod on the bag.
Needless to say the goo got on the floor. Then more dripped on the floor when I was trying to get the trays out of the bag. It was going everywhere. And it didn't tell you if you could pour it down the drain, or how you were supposed to get rid of the goo.
Yes the shelves were beautifully clean, but what a hassle!

Well my moral of your story is I didn't trod on the bag...................
And if you can wash it off in hot soapy water its got to go down the drain.
