...walking on eggshells as WWIII is about to break out between son and OH. After son came home at 3.30 am woke us up. OH has to be up for work at 5.00, son alarm rang for 1/2hr from 5.15 (son didn't need to be up till 7.30) til OH stormed in slammed on light and yell switch it off now. Son not speaking to me (never speaks to OH anyway) and spent 3 hours doing daughters home work on India that has been in her bag for 2 weeks. Roll on Monday and I can go back to work for some peace.

Strep --
All it needs is a few more years and then----
as a wrinkly I can tell you the best thing is that the house is ours -- no one has to get up at daft times --- make sure children live the optimum distance away, that is near enough to nip over for the day but not near enough to have grandchildren dumped on us as a regular thing, and of course I am allowed to have senior moments and act bizarely

So for the present just grit your teeth and imagine how nice it will be when you get over 70!

 Don't blame you! Inow have a lovely quiet house and no one to blame the mess on, well, except my husband and the cat.

...watching it try to start snowing all afternoon, before it properly kicked in.

(Slightly overdue too - I was telling people before Christmas that I expected the snow to hit London at the end of January.)

Oh you lucky thing! We are still snow-free (except for a few measly flakes this afternoon). I was hoping for a snow day so I didn't have to go to work tomorrow!

Much as I love snow, I hate driving in it and we have about an inch so far. And I really should try to get to work tomorrow as it's month end and a really busy day for me :( I'm dreading it.

Always drive at the right speed for the conditions... (ZERO is not a speed, it's a pose)... but unless you have to DIG your car out, you've got no excuse for not getting to work.

We've had a few flakes up here, but it was advertised as arriving on Monday.

If it carries on at this rate I will have to dig the car out. It's about 2 inches deep now. :(

Trouble is we are on an unmade road so I've a bit of a distance to go before I reach a road that is likely to have been gritted. I'd walk but I think about 8 miles is pushing it. :D

Light dusting of snow today - haven't been out in it - only reason to go out tomorrow is to collect paper from Newsagents -- after that I can turn the heating up and moan about all the slackers who are too idle to get in to work!

I've gone from countryside village (5-6 inches of snow) into city centre (slushy roads), the cross country to get to my little bus for the days work. Not unplugged it in case some 'jobsworth' decides it's too dangerous to operate  No Problems as far as I'm concerned.

A bit of slip-sliding seen from people who put their foot down, but I was fine :)

Radio giving a list of 80 (EIGHTY) schools that are closed  .... never in 'our day'

Good luck and take care everyone out there :)

Today i have mostly bin... Persuading giraffe to let us have the day off school in case we got stranded in the snow and were unable to get home. It was working but then my school was officialy closed because of bad weather. Giraffe decided that instead of doing schoolwork I can do Libra instead.

It's perfectly travelable at the moment, but their schools are 16 miles away, so I might get them there and then be unable to fetch them. No wonder F's school don't want to risk being stuck with him!

We've had about an inch here -- traffic light as most people seem to think it gives them an excuse not to go in. Reports of many schools closed, this is due to teachers not getting in rather than pupils. Not like that in my day! Remember either '41 or '42 when the snow in the playground was deeper than my wellies AND there was no central heating, but they had us there in our overcoats until 4.00 p.m.

Well we have about 8-9 inches here. It went over my wellies when I went out to the garage to get the litter tray for Luna. And she still went outside!! As she disappeared from view between bounds it seemed we had a Luna eclipse ;)

And I haven't even attempted to get to work. Month end accounts will just have to wait.

We have about 6 inches at the moment and I have one big problem. As some of you know my house is on a hill. Three cars stuck so far just outside our house.
I can see the main road and its fine.

My daughter, son and grandson are arriving at East Midlands airport at 10pm tonight and I have to collect them. Its about 80 miles away and right now I cant get out the drive and if I did I doubt I'd get up or down our street.
