AMAZINGLY SIMPLE HOME REMEDIES

Today's fun email! I'm not shouting at you - this is how it arrived [edited by Scurra]
Amazingly simple home remedies
1. If you're choking on an ice cube, simply pour a cup of boiling water down your throat. Presto! The blockage will instantly remove itself.
2. Avoid cutting yourself when slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold the vegetables while you chop.
3. Avoid arguments about the toilet seat - use the sink.
4. For high blood pressure sufferers ~ simply cut yourself and bleed for a few minutes, thus reducing the pressure on your veins. Remember to use a timer.
5. A mouse trap placed on top of your alarm clock will prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep after you hit the snooze button.
6. If you have a bad cough, take a large dose of laxatives. Then you'll be afraid to cough.
7. You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.
8. Remember - everyone seems normal until you get to know them.
9. If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.
Daily thought: some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.

Did you know you can "change case" in something like Microsoft Word?
I pasted this in, and changed it to "sentence case". Hey presto, it's now actually readable

Ah, I think we've found the Puzzlebrains motto at last...

Scurra, how do you do that? It would be the most useful tool I've never managed to find on Word!!!

Tools, customize, format and then in the right side column you will find "change case" You can drag the button from the list straight onto your toolbar for a shortcut to it.

You don't know how happy that's made me!
I spend so much time re-typing things because I've hit the caps button instead of A.

Not so simple in excel. Have you got a ist of functions?
The formula for "change case" is =upper(or lower) followed by the (cell co-ordinates).
If you want to find any of these things there is a search box on excel (usuallytop right side of the tolbar). Type in "change case " and up pops an explanation of how to do it.
Edit: Some versions of word may not have a button you can drag to the toolbar. You can assign a shorcut instead. i.e Alt Z.

My mother used to carry a mallet and block of wood with her at all times for just that purpose. One day she forgot it and had to go into the school office when she picked us up from school and ask if she could borrow a hammer. The secretary looked up and said "Certainly, which of the girls are you going to use it on!"

I loved these Looby! Particularly
5. A mouse trap placed on top of your alarm clock will prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep after you hit the snooze button.
I probably need one of those!
And the case tip is BRILL. Or is it brill?
Love the idea of the mallet. I have had cars like that before. It reminded me of an old 30 year old Volvo I used to drive. The door locks didn't work, so I was a dab hand at opening the bonnet and removing the rotor arm whenever I left it anywhere. Oh, yeah, and the Renault I had which you had to tie the doors on with string or they fell off. (Yes, I am very classy).

I used to have a screw driver to take the cap off the starter motor and an adjustable wrench to loosen it. worked every time, man in garage showed me how to do it way back in the 60's. It was a morris minor.

Have we all owned old bangers that work well if you know how to make them go?.
I had one that used to stop dead for no reason. Undo the petrol cap and screw it back on again and away I went again.
The next one had a battery that would very suddenly have no charge. Replaced the slightly leaking radiator and never had another problem.
I'm sure there will those who can explain both of these solutions to me. I don't want to know

im sure the petrol one will come to you with a little bit of thought....i think the cap must have been air tight
