Well that sounds like fun (apart from being under ground, that is!!)

waste of money

not quite to the level I thought it was going to be. Basically, get on a tube and take a picture of 4 people smiling.

For 2 hours.

There was one 'code' which was basically caeser shifted by 1...

hmm, doesn't sound particularly challenging.
Possibly apart from finding 4 people smiling!

worst thing was, we came 5th!

basically because teams with two players got 130 bonus points. We scored 250 with no bonus, and the winners got 320.

not that I'm bitter...

That does seem a massive advantage for the teams of two.

Sounds like money for old rope. I bet we could organise a much better and more challenging puzzle trail between us if we put our minds to it. If we could manage to find a way to advertise it we could make a nice little bit on the side... :D And if we didn't make any money it'd still be fun to do.

There you go, Scurra, little project for you.

Actually, I quite seriously considered having a go at writing some puzzle trails (bit like that one we did in the Cotswolds, for those who remember that) only better, of course!! There used to be a bit on the BBC website where you could put a link. I know it wasn't very professional, and most certainly had some issues, but I loved making that trail thing with Laura in Ashridge. It was great fun.

But the problem - and it's a real problem - is that for too many people, "get on a tube and take a picture of 4 people smiling" is as complicated as they want to get (even if they'd actually enjoy something more.) Heck, I sometimes think it's as complicated as PB solvers want to get.

So when are you bringing out your "take a photograph of people smiling" issue, Scurra? I'd buy it, but I can't even manage to take photographs of people smiling without managing to chop their heads off in the photo...

There are probably a few companies doing this. There was one on local radio that has trals in London, Manchester and Newcastle. The 'clues' they gave over the radio were pretty basic, but they claim they can work at all levels. I need totrack the web address again to show you all.

Anyway - their on air clues (so easy I remember them - LOL)

A modern fort and the top of a hinged enterance indicate a card game you can walk on or something that winks.

I got it in 10 seconds, the radio announcer was LOST
