Anyone interested in forming a Puzzlebrains team?

Applications for the next series are open. You have to answer some sample questions but I'm sure we can figure out a way to co-ordinate that.

Gawd, I have been thinking about a PB team for the last series or two. Hopefully without setting myself up for a fall, I'm very quick at the missing vowels. Mostly, assuming I have heard of whatever the answer is, I beat both TV teams. The other rounds, erm, not so quick.
There would have to be an absolutely clear rule not to pronounce the E in horned (viper) or Mrs S will actually smash the TV.

Nope, although I love the idea of it (and always watch the programme) I'm HOPELESS under pressure and my mind goes a complete blank. I know this because my mind turned to jelly when I was talking to Danny Baker on the radio show. I do think you should go for it though, as long as you can get three of you!

What a great idea! I'm sure we have the talent out there.....
However, I am definitely not offering, as my skilled interests are far too limited in range and I am totally lost on modern pop culture

which seems to be pretty essential!

Yes, good idea, but not for me.
Like SparkOut, I'm OK with the missing vowels, if I've heard of the subject matter and not too bad on the wall. But I'm lucky if I get one or two from the first two rounds.

I think it's a great idea but my best round would also be the missing vowels and like Bunny I worry I would crack under pressure.
But if you do go and get to have tickets for supporters I would love to come and cheer you on!

Yes, so would I!

I think it would be fantastic fun to all go along to support.
Chazzie? You're a pretty cool customer with fantastic all round knowledge? Could we twist your arm?

By the way, I'm totally with Mrs S. on the hornEd viper scenario.

I have never seen the programme. I saw the end of one and hadn't a clue what they were doing, and I have played around with the grids online, but I'm not much good at them.

Monday evening 8.30 BBC2. Straight after University Challenge.
Such a good hour of television.

It's the only programme my daughter actually tries to watch!

I always enjoy the programme but do struggle to see the connections sometimes. I would offer to be an ardent supporter though

Occasionally I get one that nobody on the programme sees but usually it's a case of 4 items that I know nothing about.
Having a team on the programme would seem an ideal excuse for a meet!

Great idea. This weeks programme I found easier than usual, in fact after the first two rounds I had scored more than both the teams and at the end I was only 1 point behind. Not usual though and I'm not good under pressure, like bunny everything disappears from the brain. always assuming there was something there in the first place. It's always easier from your armchair. Good luck to any of you who take it on.

Have you followed up the suggestion of Chazzie? Might she be interested?
In another thread you mention Paulman - I'd wondered about him, too, as I know you see him regularly

Any luck with Paulman?

Or anyone else interested? I think this is such a good idea!
I would offer, but I don't think they'd take kindly to a "sleeping partner!"

Yes, I think Paul is up for it. We will also need a "fourth" in case of emergencies...

When is the deadline for applications? What is the process?

I have the application form (which includes a mini-test that they ask to be completed "under exam conditions"!)
The closing date for returning applications is February 9th.
My plan was to sit down with Paul and have a go at the test (I've tried really hard not to read it

) and go from there.
