Bit late, I know...but hope you are all enjoying your version of Easter, whatever that may be! Weve been chucking decorated eggs down a hill, having a picnic, then a walk, then roast dinner. They've all gone home now and the house looks like a whirlwind has passed through it!

My version of Easter...
6am get up
7am go to church to battle with attaching the big chunks of flower arrangements to the big outside cross with a wobbly stepladder, screws that were too short and a screwdriver that wasn't long enough, with instructions from the guy who designed it who wasn't there, and the guy who provided the screws and screwdrivers but also wasn't there.... we ended up tying it together with string.
8am playing the organ for communion service
9am bacon butties and washing up
10am playing the organ for another service
11am entertaining my friend's gorgeous but slightly barmy 5yr old and 3 yr old grandchildren
12noon lunch
1pm visiting my deaf and grumpy grandma
2.30pm collapse for a while and actually do some puzzling!!!!!
5pm tea, followed by the most delicious, sickliest, gooiest, chocolate and salted caramel cheesecakey thing that my friend (with the grandchildren) gave me instead of an easter egg.
6pm Another Easter service where I actually got to sing this time!

I'm jolly well having a lie-in tomorrow!!!

Church on Easter morning is a priority for us - this is what it is all about, after all!

But after that it was a slightly unusual Easter this year - since it happened to coincide on the day with a special birthday for a special Grandad. That was an extra reason to have the family here to visit for the celebration..
So the rest of the day was more about birthday presents and Easter eggs - with a traditional simnel cake turned into a birthday cake with the addition of a candle (no room for 75 of them!)
Then a slow roasted Easter leg of lamb for dinner, followed by home-made Black Forest Gateau from a secret recipe I learned from my German friend who lives there.

How time does manage to creep on - he was somewhat taken aback to be given a rather splendid clock for a surprise present, not knowing whether it was a reminder of the passage of time or a hint that he should be slowing down.......

I got very confused there thinking Wulfruna was saying it was her granddad's birthday!

I think it must be that damned Overcast puzzle which has fried both of our brains, LAT, I initially read W's post as

And here we go again. Happy Easter to you all. I gather (via other media) that at least one of us was up at 5.30am eating chocolate!

We will shortly be decorating our eggs and going out to throw them down a hill...then an egg hunt for the Pickle in my garden, followed by a roast dinner ( incorporating a new "vegan" element... Sorry if anyone else out there is similarly affiliated, but it's all SO expensive, SO difficult to make, and tastes SO much like sawdust. But hey, everyone to their own.)

Happy Easter everyone. Sorry if folk are not able to go to their normal church services that are important to them and also sorry for all of those who usually enjoy spending Easter with the family. But we are all here in spirit and the world keeps turning!

I was quite touched that my friend Janet left a small chocolate egg in my porch (she wouldn't normally do that!) We are going for virtual egg rolling down the hill in the garden with the family including the littlies (not that I think Charlotte will know what's going on, although she does seem to be fascinated listening to me reading E stories over Whatsapp!) Then Dibble will be doing us a quiz via Zoom later in the day.

My plans for the day ..Hopefully enjoying some nice weather in the garden...started clearing a bed yesterday and trying to dig out an old plant...then I can start putting new ones in....strange Easter but need to have a plan for each day.

I just moved the chocolate stuff out of the path of the approaching sunbeam.
Although it will probably be miserable again by the time the sun moved round... it changes so quickly up here.
