 Exactly! I must say, the clinking flag poles are driving me nuts! (Bah humbug!) Also, no star gazing or parking outside our house for us...

And today...about four inches of snow- and still snowing! How are you lot doing?

We had a scrimp of snow on the ground, but it has turned to a faint rainy dampness now and disappearing

So far just a bit of sleet here. Keeping my fingers crossed.
A bit worried about our son who is away in Gdansk at the moment and we're not sure whether he will be able to get back again as lots of the flights to Stansted seem to be cancelled. :( Meanwhile daughter is smugly talking about temperatures of 16 - 18 C this week.

 Oh, love her! It's finally stopped snowing (must be about 5 inches or more now) but it's freezing. I've been watching the carnage of cars in the road opposite with alarm... :? My friend Adele was supposed to be flying from Stansted to Germany today, she spend three and a half hours crammed in the terminal waiting for announcements (people being directed by POLICE!) and eventually had to drive back home on the M25 (good luck with that - it was gridlocked near us earlier!) Poor Ashley is still working, fixing mains electricity outages all over the region...

I put out food for the birds and there was a complete feeding frenzy going on - starlings and robins fighting over the bird table, long tailed tits, blue tits and sparrows knocking each other off the hanging bird feeder, then blackbirds, pigeons and a squirrel clearing up all the bits that fell off below the feeding station! Should probably have gone down the route of the dabble grish on the snow dalek again...

Dabble Grish is sort of cake made for birds out of left over fat, flour, fruit, seeds, and berries then baked. The funny part was that while it was cooling in the tray in the kitchen, my son went and ate some. He came in and said
"what is that cake in the kitchen?"

Fortunately for him I hadn't added cotoneaster berries like I sometimes do, and had used left over fruit from making Christmas cakes instead. BUT it didn't have any sugar in it, AND I had used some cookeen which was out of date!! Serves the silly sod right. Mind you, he said it was quite nice!!
Last time I made this, I put it out on top of a snow dalek that I made in the garden. :D

Looking forward to tonight's storm...not only do we have to contend with rain and wind, we'll have to listen to next door but one's pretend presents from the sleigh crashing around our front garden again. We've already had to return them three times...

Maybe this time we'll get a reindeer or an inflatable Santa for a bit of extra excitement?
