I've been listening to a fantastic podcast : A History of Rock Music in 500 Songs. https://www.500songs.com/
He's just reached #99 and has barely entered the 1960s, but the whole opening section has been riveting, talking about the early history of "rock-and-roll" and how different genres evolved in various directions. I wholeheartedly recommend it for anyone who has the remotest interest in popular music. (And, as a disclosure, as someone who thought they weren't - particularly interested in popular music, I mean - I'm really loving it.) Each episode is about half-an-hour and it talks mostly about particular artists through the lens of their songs.
