Eurovision

#1 Post by SparkOut » Sat May 16, 2009 6:14 pm

Aaarrrrghhhhh! My mental case wife is busy decorating with flags of all the competing nations at the moment (and got the children helping too). Wish me luck. I've got beer. I'll need it. Not even Terry Wogan to help with comments about the ludicrous performances/outfits/voting. Good luck Graham Norton.
Heeeeelllpppp! Where's my Eurovision Drinking Game rules?

You can't tell us you have blue hands and then expect us not to ask!!!! What happened?

And I'm so sick of the adverts for Eurovision and that song that I've taken to blocking my ears every time it comes on. I'll be watching Bear Grylls, Britain's Got Talent and then washing my hair!

All I can say if that if you're reduced to watching Britain's Got Talent in preference to Eurovision, I think there's a bigger problem there

I'm a primary school music teacher. The stuff on there passes as high class music compared to what I have to listen to all day. And besides, I do think Simon Cowell is a very intelligent man and really knows his stuff.

Won't be the same without Wogan, usually only watch the voting for the Wogan wit. Think I just try and draw lines all over my puzzlebrains mag and try and solve something :?

So why do you consider the competitors on BGT to be superior to those on Eurovision? This is a genuine enquiry, by the way. Frankly, I think there's little to choose between the really good ones - but I think there are a lot more "good ones" on Eurovision than on BGT. And the really big advantage is that Eurovision is only on once a year, instead of dragged out for three months. :)

I have five thirteen year old boys for a sleepover (well one isn't 13 until Monday) so I might need something stronger than beer. I don't drink, but by midnight I might well be an alcoholic!

I've filled them full of pizza and it's very noisy in the other room.

They are taking it in turns to shoot each other on the playstation, so I don't think the puzzles stand a chance against Bloodbath 3 or whatever it is callled.

Yes it is isn't it?
And I'm sure we will have enough to do at the meet without the need for Playstations.

Ok, trying not to turn this into a Eurovision rant here. Reasons for preferring BGT to Eurovision.
- You don't have to watch for three solid hours. I'm always bored of Eurovision by halfway through.
- BGT has the lovely buzzers, and the audience booing the appalling acts.
- Eurovision generally annoys me because so many good acts get no credit while worse acts get all the points.
- Any reasonable singer who goes on Eurovision and doesn't win is forever criticised and slated even though they basically had no chance of winning in the first place cos of all the political stuff.
- This years act was, in my opinion, not the best one out of all the possibles that were on the programme for finding the star. Add to that the fact that she sings out of tune ON THE RECORDING they keep playing (which quite frankly is driving me mad, it's been on telly that often), then I think she has no chance of hitting the notes when she's singing live. I mean, if you can't get it right when you can re-record it with no pressure, then you shouldn't be singing it.

Hmmm, seems to have turned into a rant. Sorry!

I have to say that for me, all of those points (except #2, obviously!) apply just as much to BGT. And I'll take 3 hours of Eurovision to, at last count, what feels like 24 hours of BGT
