Clever s*ds - help required please!!

#1 Post by Bunnylump » Tue Jun 02, 2009 3:33 pm

My daughter has created one of those dancing person things where you add someone's face to the figure (bit like the dancing Brian and MBH elves one). It would be brilliant to be able to show it on a computer at my husband's 50th birthday party on Saturday, but we don't know if it is possible to save it to a file, as it's an internet site and the hall doesn't have the internet. Could anyone give me any suggestions as to how we might do this please???? Thanks.

The link didn't work for me Bunny. Don't know about everyone else? Not that I'd be able to help anyway.

Bunnylump have you spelt the link correctly. You seem to have too many d s in it. (Not that I could find it without the extra D either)

OOps sorry, my daughter was typing it over my shoulder and I think she's added an extra "dad" in it. I've changed it now but I'm not sure if it's right (she's out, in her car AGAIN - so I'll have to ask her later.) I've had a very kind offer of help from SparkOut. :D

It is really funny, isn't it? Unfortunately it was a far more difficult job to save it as a file than I thought. Poor Sparkout ended up with one version with my husband's disembodied head leaping around and another with a kilted headless dancer!! Thank you so much for trying, SparkOut, I really appreciate it. :D I'll just show it to him when we get home, and he's had a few!!

Oh my goodness! Sparkout - I didn't expect that! Please don't put yourself to too much trouble!!

(I did tell him that I don't have any skills so I am unable to reciprocate the favour. The only thing I could think of was an offer of digging - I'm good at that- or I could post him a sausage roll...)

It all went brilliantly thank you. Our initial estimate of 80 people kept going up and up, and ended up being about 110. Consequently the catering was quite challenging! We are lucky having access to a FREE band (OH's :D )for later on, and a FREE classical/ jazz pianist (daughter) for when the older folk were there, and even a FREE hall (brother in law on parish council -yes yes yes yes, no  ) which is away from all the houses and we could make as much noise as we liked. Only problem was that as we didn't have any rules as such, it went on until about 2am!

Special feature was a powerpoint presentation made by my daughter followed by the brilliant "dancing Scotsman husband" which SparkOut so kindly helped us with (isn't he lovely?) which had people in absolute stitches.

Do you know what? I love this forum. People are so friendly and supportive. When I'm having a carp day, I know I can come on her and have a moan and a whinge and get numerous sympathetic ears. When I've had a great day I can come and share it with friends. When I need advice there are lots of clever people who can help me out and are prepared to put themselves out (like SparkOut just has). You've frequently had me in absolute hysterics of laughter most weeks. Oh yeah...and there are great puzzles, too!! :D I know I'm being all gushy, but could I just take this opportunity to say THANK YOU? :D

:D

That's great news, and I'm glad everyone had a good time. The bad part I suppose is there's no sausage rolls left for the adopted brother :(

Don't think I'd heard before that you were a Dibley fan - as long as you don't have "Cropley" as part of your name, I guess we're OK. [NO!!!! You can't pass yourself off as Alice - you're too damned clever!..... Who knows you? :P ]

I'm glad you can share these things with us, and full marks to sparkout for the assist :) A wide range of skills we have across the country.

I can't believe it but all the sausage rolls have gone!! I can do a nice line in cherry tomatoes, peppers and celery sticks though!! (Obviously all the unhealthy stuff was far more popular.)

When it's my birthday I'll arrange you a special delivery, MBH! :D I'm getting my ideas from Letitia: "Bread and butter pudding surprise" (a recipe for which she was breeding snails), Marmite cakes (which she served for Frank's birthday), chocolate mixed with cod roe, parsnip brownies and chocolate spread sandwiches (with a "hint" of taramosalata).

And, especially for you:
Gerry: What do you get if you eat Christmas decorations?
Alice: I don't know. What?
Gerry: Tinselitis!
Alice: Oh, dear, I'd better be careful, then.
:D

Oh, heck! If we start up a vicar of Dibley thread, I'll be here all week!

We're doing a murder mystery play with our drama group, and one of the characters is supposed to be American. None of us can keep a straight face though. The bloke's attempt at American comes out exactly like Frank Pickles' impression of Stephen Hawking!!! I can't make eye-contact with anyone or we lose the plot for the next 10 minutes!

OK I'm asking again, because I'm thick. (Don't panic SparkOut this time I won't take up your entire Saturday!!)

Can someone please tell me how to do something on Excel please? You know the grey column headers ABCDE etc.?Is there a way to change what they are called at all? I just wanted 1234 along the top instead. Is this possible? Because I can't work out how to do it. :x
