General Knowledge Crossword

I have been trying this Crossword in the Glasgow Herald and I am Stumped with this clue

Provision made for the younger children of Kings(8) i have the following ?P?A???E
Any ideas anyone . I would be grateful for any help

Could it be APPARAGE - 'Portion of land assigned by a sovereign prince for the subsistence of his younger sons'?
