The Last Hurrah!

#1 Post by Scurra » Sat Dec 14, 2024 7:49 pm

15 years is a long time to be doing anything, really.
And after long thought (and discussions), I have decided that it's time to draw the curtain on Puzzlebrains - at least as a moderately regular puzzle magazine in the form it currently exists.
I don't want anyone to think that there any specific reason for this - I haven't fallen out with anyone (although goodness knows I've tried to do it with most of you at various points over the years  ) - it's just that it feels right to stop now rather than stumbling on without getting anywhere.
I am very proud of the 60 or so sets of puzzles that have been produced over these years, both in print and when we moved online, and it's impossible to understate the fun of engaging with all of you and everyone else in the small community of people who came through the forum at various times over the years.
But all good things must come to an end.

I am not intending to shutter the forum, or even the main puzzle site; I fully intend to keep them both going for as long as we have funds to keep them up (which should be for several years yet!)
And I am sure that more puzzles will appear now and then; I certainly don't intend to stop writing them even if I'm not going to be doing a full magazine - but those are famous last words. :)

So here is one last puzzle set to give Puzzlebrains a send-off: The Last Hurrah!
You should find it on the main site (as usual, if you have access problems, please let me know.)
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
All of my puzzles are simple and obvious. For certain values of "simple" and "obvious".

Well, all I can say is that I am very sad. But thank you for all of your hard work over the years. It's been fun. :D
You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it.

Thank you for all the hard work over the years. A well earned retirement. Of course I am hoping you find retirement boring and want to puzzle create. Love the puzzles. Well done everyone who contributed. They always bought a smile to my face.

Hear Hear! It has been a long time and good things don't last for ever. But thanks for the fun and the laughs over the years, along with all the mind-stretching that has been involved :o
And good to know that it is not a complete retirement, but there may be more to come in the future :D

15 years…wow hadn’t realised it was that long, and you should be proud of what you have achieved. Thank you, and your team, for everything you have done to provide us with 15 years of brain challenging puzzles, I have always loved getting the new set to work on, and it’s been part of my life. So sorry this will be the last set, but completely understand. I will just have to savour the last set.
