Sad news

#1 Post by Scurra » Tue Dec 02, 2025 9:52 am

I am very sorry to say that Sheila Brain - better known here as Wulfruna - passed away peacefully last night.
She had had cancer for some time, but it had accelerated over the last few weeks.

It's no exaggeration to say that Puzzlebrains would not be here without her. Not just because she was my mother but because she was largely responsible for instilling a love of puzzles into me from an early age, with no idea what it would lead to! And she encouraged it all the way.
So if my cryptic crossword clues in the future aren't as good as they used to be, well, that's the reason. :)
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
All of my puzzles are simple and obvious. For certain values of "simple" and "obvious".

Oh that's so, so sad. Feeling for you. I only actually met her that once in Spean Bridge, but she was a lovely, lovely lady.

OK this has also been a long time coming, but Dad has requested next stage of his "see me out in comfort" meds being administered tonight.
So he probably won't wake up in the morning. Or if he does, then not the next day.

Yes, peaceful is what we all wish for in the end, I am glad that is how it was for both him and for you. Sending love to you and yours. X

So sorry to hear this sad news - I will cherish all the help Wulfruna gave me over the many times I was struggling over the puzzles.
Thinking of you at this sad time x
