Exam Results

OK I thought I'd make a new thread for this so anyone with some good exam news can post here. (Thomas? Fingers crossed!)

This is just me being insufferably smug and showing off (AGAIN). I can hear you all groaning and saying inwardly "Oh for goodness sake, doesn't she EVER shut up?? :D So If this is the case, look away now.

I just went into work to check out the A level results. And I am SO HAPPY I can't tell you. One of my individual students, who I have worked with for the past 8 years has JUST GOT INTO UNIVERSITY!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D
You'll probably all be wondering why I care so much. Well he's had a statement of Special Educational Needs, and has significant recording difficulties. He's the loveliest boy you could wish to work with, bright, funny, hardworking and talented. When I first started working with him in year 7 HE COULD BARELY WRITE. All he could do was dictate to me what he wanted to say, then it would take him the full hour to painstakingly copy letter by letter what I'd written, and would have only managed about 2 lines of writing. After MASSIVE input, he can now write essays!! OK he can't spell, or punctuate properly, but he can do well enough to get the marks.

I was so chuffed I haven't stopped grinning all morning. Mind you, I now know that it's a REALLY bad move for me to drive when I'm excited. I was going along the bypass to take my car in to the garage in Berkhamsted (still grinning widely), looked down and realised I was driving at 115 mph. :o

I think you must have misread the dial and were only doing 11.5mph
Or maybe you read the kph instead (and were thus only doing around 70.)

At least, that's what I'd have tried to convince the police officer...

Yes, that must have been it. :D I honestly had no idea at the time. I'm usually so good at keeping to speed limits too! I must learn to concentrate, mustn't I?

:D

I'm still grinning. SOOOO chuffed you wouldn't believe it. It makes all those hours of slogging away and endless unpaid hours of work worthwhile. He sent me a message to say
"Thanks Miss... I couldn't have done it without you." Which is especially poignant because of course now he can. :D

I nearly cried. :D

Well, hopefully it'll give him the kick up the rear he needs to improve on those results!! It's not like when we were at school, they can re take modules or the whole thing until they get the best mark they can. I wish him well

On a different note, I have a message from Thomas:
well i got an A in maths, a B in computing, a B in electronics and a B in further maths. It gets me into university :D Stafford is where i'll be going :)

proud of me? Lol. X
Didn't he do well? :D :D
I've told him to keep me updated with how he gets on, and I'll let you all know.

my daughter got the results she needed for loughborough thank goodness as clearing seems to be quite a worry from what I hear.

Her brother I do not know what to do with. He did his first modules at gcse science and maths and did v well a*aaa. his done his second modules but we do not know the results but he tells us he didn't see the need to revise as he didn;t the first time. He does not seem to realise that exams get more and more difficult - I;ve tried to explain but well he knows better

...and my son! My nephew has just scraped through to be allowed to stay on in the 6th form. He's another one who thinks he doesn't need to do any work.

Tell your daughter congratulations, Biscuit! That is good news indeed! Loughborough is a really good university. What's she doing?
