You've just solved the meta!!! Withdrawal symptoms?
It is 6.20pm Thursday 29th October- the next issue is not even due yet!!!
I have just collected Last Chance to See from the printer, and I will be posting them tomorrow am. I'm trying to beat the postal strike, what's your excuse?
Because of the postal strike, please be aware that your printed versions may be considerably delayed. I know that Sparkout's Issue 5 took 2 weeks to reach him- he was unlucky enough to be in an area affected, and I'm assuming that was his local sorting office rather than the national. In fact his replacement either got there at the same time -or a day before.
Online versions and passwords will be posted/sent in due course.
I have a list of our subscribers- would you each please
PM me when your copy arrives. That way I can keep tabs on who has received and who hasn't.

I've not read the thread, only the title.....
Go to 'Start', look for 'All Programs' then move to the 'Games' section... You may find it is called Solitaire, but I grew up knowing it as 'Patience'
Has anyone noticed that I'm in a very silly Friday afternoon before a week's holiday mood at the moment? Nope?? Good - I got away with it!

Just Mad. Made the mistake of making one for the office for the last two years and so I have orders for extras this year.

I wanted to impress oh our first christmas.
Made our own christmas cake but didnt have any glycerine but thought this wouldnt be too big a problem
How wrong
oh couldnt cut the cake even with a hammer and chisel
We had to throw the plate and cake away:(
I admire anyone making their own cake or three.

that reminds me of some of the "cooking" done in my food technology class

one cake was so tough we broke the tin trying to get it out....

I can never get them to cook properly, so I gave up many years ago. I remember one year trying to get the cake to cook, after 6 hours in the oven it still wasn't cooked through and it was midnight, so I turned the oven down and went to bed.

I am assuming that the glycerine was for the icing rather than the cake itself? Yes, it does make a difference in softening the icing - which is one reason I don't usually add the icing until a day or two before serving it up (even with the glycerine!!). I usually make the cake itself about a month before Christmas to allow it to mature well, but two months early does seem a bit enthusiastic! However, that does remind me that it is time I thought about making the Christmas pudding(s), which definitely need a couple of months to mature properly......

have to own up - i have been married for 23 years now and still not attempted another cake - obviously gycerine was an important element of the icing mixture. - also must say that oh has not requested another attempt either:) obviously scared him off with that attempt.
I am now heavily into low fat since joining rosemary conley - slimmer of the week on wednesday but only because everyone else did pretty bad (I only lost 3 lbs in their lose 7lbs in a fortnight diet). love her diet through - never eaten so much fruit which must b good. Even had a chinese eat out meal and several glasses of wine and still managed the 3 lbs so it is a pretty normal diet. Not sure I have done so well this week - stresses at work take their toll. Perhaps stress should be tax deductable like benefits in kind are not.

I do make Christmas cake, and have even decorated one with a relief Father Christmas face!! Usually my "kids" fight over who's going to ice it though. So now my daughter ices the cake and my son goes round to Nanny's to make a christmas pudding! And a very fine Christmas pudding he makes too. He adapted the recipe because he decided it had too much fat and sugar in it. (That was when he was playing county basketball and went all health conscious). Consequently it's a lot more "cakey" but really scrummy.

I make Christmas cakes, but I only cover them in marzipan, and then make little holly decorations out of marzipan with red and green colouring in it. Never made a christmas pud though.

I used to make 3 christmas cakes one for us, my frien and one for the office, but i used the roll out icing to cover the cakes and then decorate the top. One year I made theree snowmen in bed and the covered them in the cing and embossed some markings to make it look like a quilt
Recently I saw a photograph of individually iced christmas cake each about 2 inch square and decorated wilth sugar balls and coloured icing to make them look like parcel - I thought that was a novel idea. Might try that this year as our friends from Holland are coming over for Christmas

I can't believe how many of you want to give us money in advance.
If you didn't get a reminder with the last mag you are most likely to be receiving one with this issue!!
IF YOU HAVEN'T HAD A REMINDER YOU HAVE AT LEAST ONE MORE ISSUE TO COME.

Well the postman was very prompt. Guess what I've just got!
(Not that I have any puzzles to do from it...but it is very beautiful, as ever.)
