1st Puzzlebrains meet/4th DVP meet
Scarletannie suggested my caravan site as a good place for a meet and the more I think about it the more a caravan park seems like a good idea for our meets and it doesn't have to be mine. Caravans aren't what they used to be. Just in case anyone has taken fright already they all have toilets, showers, fridges cookers, fires and televisions:D
To hire a 3 bedroomed caravan around April beginning of May is between £120 & £150 for a weekend break, (Friday Saturday and Sunday night)and if we went to a Park Resorts site I'd get 25% off that for everyone. At the top end of the price range that would work out at £37.50 each for 3 people sharing 1 caravan for the whole weekend. Alternatively anyone who wanted to bring the entire family could so and hire their own.
Campers and tourers are also welcome. They all have heated swimming pools and a clubhouse serving food and drinks all day so no wandering around looking for somewhere to eat or drink and we could have our parties in one of them. Anyone on a tight budget could self cater.
What do you think?
In any event, if anyone wants 25% off a caravan break let me know. It's open to all my family and friends. You just need my account number to book.

I want to find a campsite where I can take three teenagers and have a real campfire! Anyone know of one? I've had absolutely zero success in finding anywhere that will actually let me set fire to their site!

Only one I ever found was on the border of Gibralter and Spain many moons ago. Dont think our Health and Safety Laws allow them

Re: 1st Puzzlebrains meet/4th DVP meet
well, that's no good! We only go for two nights!
I have to borrow the other campers from their famillies, we just have a get-together each summer, and a bit of a catch-up. Our furthest venture from their home in Leicester has been Norfolk! Can't see Gibraltar happening somehow!
Thanks anyway.

Good lord Gill is it 4 Times?! I remember the 1st.
I think the caravan idea is great, we'd all be in close proximity, and its reasonable. I don't stay in them often but I love caravans (like a tortoise, home on back). On one day/night we could all bring a contribution and have a party, with not far to stagger back home. Doesn't bother me where it is, although you being in Leeds (I think) seems a pretty good halfway point to me, and theres some lovely countryside around. I'm away from 3/5 for 7 days so I couldn't do that but either side seems OK.For preference later as its warmer but thats not important. Thanks for suggesting it and for the offer of 25% discount its very generous.
SO COME ON everyone, what do you think ?

They're going to tie you up again clvrld, remember the 1st time
Re: 1st Puzzlebrains meet/4th DVP meet
I'd forgotten about that offer Gill (probably because I hate camping) but we do need to start discussions as to where we're going.
We (me, Lat & Spersleuth) were/are about to have a small meeting to discuss the next meet down south, but that's not set in stone. We had also thought, depending on numbers, that a murder mystery might be a good idea for a theme using one of Scurra's boxed games.
So:
1. Who is interested in attending?
2 Where would you like it to be?
3 When would you like it to be?

Re: 1st Puzzlebrains meet/4th DVP meet
Now I have more time :
I think we kind of nominated Looby to host meet 4/1 over on DVP some time ago. The south seems sensible as we've been to Leeds ( relatively north) Milton Keynes ( middle of the country- ish) and "Norn Iron". If Looby, LAT and Supersleuth have
discussions underway my suggestion would be to let them get on with it and tell the rest of us where and when.
They do need some clues though, get those hands up and be as flexible as you can possibly be. It will be well worth it.

Re: 1st Puzzlebrains meet/4th DVP meet
At the moment, from the amount of response we've had, it looks like it might be in my lounge!

It all depends when. Can I show conditional interest, please?

Re: 1st Puzzlebrains meet/4th DVP meet
I've always wanted a go at those Murder Mystery evenings, but never know the right people (until now). Usual problems of time and money will apply to me as always (I really shouldn't have gone to Belfast - but I'm glad I did), but I'll keep an eye on this thread and see where it goes.

Re: 1st Puzzlebrains meet/4th DVP meet
I'm in (+ Sarah of course). If it turnes out to be a caravan park type thing I may just bring the whole clan. That's 6 of us. You have been warned.
On a simply practical note, I would like a couple of weeks(ish) notice please.
Cheers. BB.
