This is called the Periodic Table of Synthpop. Trying to identify who they are! Got quite a few...

Are there supposed to be groupings like the Periodic Table of Elements or is that a stretch too far.
Seeing as I barely recognise myself in the mirror when shaving and could easily walk past family members in the street without realising, I am surprised at how many I have already got. Although I am wondering why Princess Diana is down there on the bottom row among all the musicians.

I don't think there are supposed to be groupings, but I THINK that there are a couple of places where there are two people from the same group sitting next to each other, e.g. I THINK that in row 6 it might be John Taylor 4th from left and then Simon LeBon to his right (both from Duran Duran).

Some of them are just so distinctive because of the ridiculous 1980s hair! Particularly e.g. the guy in the 6th row, first on the left - I think he's Mike Score from Flock of Seagulls? I also think that some of the drawings are much better than others, some being completely terrible such as the lady in row 7 third from the left, which I believe is supposed to be Alison Moyet, as she is next to what looks like Vince Clark.

I've spotted about 4 faces that I might know but I wouldn't call any of them Synthpop so I'm not particularly sure. :?

Probably not my era!

I don't think the Synthpop thing is at all helpful. I think they are just a selection of musicians who were prominent in that era. For example, I certainly wouldn't include Sting and Elvis Costello in the Synthpop bracket!

Yes, Elvis Costello was one of the ones I thought I'd spotted. Otherwise I think I have Adam Ant in the top row, next to what could be Grace Jones and above a possible Bryan Ferry. Otherwise I wondered about Bob Geldof in the bottom row and possibly Boy George, penultimate person in the 4th row.
Then I struggle!

I was wondering what Harry Potter was doing in the picture, although he doesn't have a scar. :?

Some of them are incredibly ugly! (Well I think so, anyway! )

I think some of them really are ugly! In particular, people like Nick Cave (who I think is the one in row 9 6th from left).

I agree with all of those. I think the one with the blue glasses (aka Harry Potter) might be Thomas Dolby*. I'm not entirely sure who SparkOut thought was Princess Diana!

* Somewhere, we have a couple of Thomas Dolby LPs. I don't think we can play them because I'm not sure the record player still works! I think one was called "Aliens ate my Buick"!

Yes, I agree with those as well. :D

, these are the ones I really have no idea about. I am going from left to right.
Row 10 numbers 4 and 9
Row 9 numbers 1,2 and 7
Row 8 numbers 1,4,5,6,7,8,9
Row 7 numbers 2 and 7
Row 6 numbers 2 and 3
Row 5 numbers 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10
Row 4 numbers 3,6,7,8
Row 3 numbers 1,3,4,6,8,9,10
Row 2 numbers 3,5,7,9
Row 1 numbers 1,5,9,10

It obviously doesn't matter, I'm just curious because some look a bit familiar and yet I can't place them.

Where did you get it from? Could you check there for answers?

I assumed 'Princess Diana' is the 4th in the front row?

It's one of those things that's been shared and shared so not entirely sure where it originated!

Aaahhhh yes! That is :D Martin Gore. That was one of the ones I thought I ought to know! :D Good call also on Pete Burns (crikey, I just made the mistake of looking him up - latterly he looked horrific following stupid surgery.) And yes, of course, the B52s, you are right there, too. I also wondered if that was meant to be Toyah, but it's a pretty bad picture, I think.

Thanks! :D

I've never heard of Klaus Nori - what was he in?

I've now got "... a little old place where
We can get together" swooshing about in my head!

I think the pictures are all actual photos that have been posterised with photoshop filters that lower the detail and flatten out much of the colour variation.

I meant Klaus Nomi I thought surely someone with a look that distinctive would be easy to get, but I only spotted him through some brief research both arcane and serendipitous. I think he was a solo performer, from Wikipedia.
