You know you know. If you swapped the word order it'd be the same as the spectral boxer, underfed though he might be.

Oh, of course! I've finally realised that the bantam wasn't mostly ghostly... :D

That was, of course, the bantam phantom.

For every boat? (4,4)

Yes it is. And no, you're not.
I can't stop thinking there must be some merit in the rhyme of all yawl, but there's no way I can bend it to shape, so I should stop thinking that. But I can't.

Oh, so near. :D
What would "for every / boat = per / U" actually indicate? Especially around here?

Ahhhhhhhhh, the &lit indicator in clue 1 should have made this more obvious. But I overlooked it anyway. I usually really like self-referential clues. Including this one. :)

Well, I'm trusting that it (for every boat) is a clue to Per U. In other words, it's a Peru Clue.

Indeed. I was mildly amused when I thought of it, but was then (as usual) surprised at how tricky it actually was to see the answer. :D

Yes, I was just looking for a rhyme without realising it was a puzzle too. This one had a nice Aha. :D

So is that the answer? This is probably going to sound stupid but where was 'Clue' clued?
Maybe I'm just playing a different game from you two! :?

The point was that "For every boat in the Americas" was in itself a clue to the word Peru. Therefore it was a Peru Clue.

(I can hear the whaling and gnashing of teeth from here. Oh, wait...) ;)
