Re: Rhyme game
You know you know. If you swapped the word order it'd be the same as the spectral boxer, underfed though he might be.
Re: Rhyme game
Oh, of course! I've finally realised that the bantam wasn't mostly ghostly...

So please set another
Re: Rhyme game
That was, of course, the bantam phantom.
For every boat? (4,4)
(edit: this is horrendously difficult. Sorry. )

Re: Rhyme game
Yes it is. And no, you're not.
I can't stop thinking there must be some merit in the rhyme of all yawl, but there's no way I can bend it to shape, so I should stop thinking that. But I can't.

Somewhat easier (or not!):

Re: Rhyme game
Now I am stuck with yawl and y'all
Re: Rhyme game
That's very good. Nowhere near right but very good.

Re: Rhyme game
How about Peru Crew, as in Per U-(boat)?
Re: Rhyme game
Oh, so near.
What would "for every / boat = per / U" actually indicate? Especially around here?

Re: Rhyme game
Ahhhhhhhhh, the &lit indicator in clue 1 should have made this more obvious. But I overlooked it anyway. I usually really like self-referential clues. Including this one.
Re: Rhyme game
Well, I'm trusting that it (for every boat) is a clue to Per U. In other words, it's a Peru Clue.
Re: Rhyme game
Indeed. I was mildly amused when I thought of it, but was then (as usual) surprised at how tricky it actually was to see the answer.

Re: Rhyme game
Yes, I was just looking for a rhyme without realising it was a puzzle too. This one had a nice Aha.
Re: Rhyme game
New one:
Marine cry (5,4)
Marine cry (5,4)
Re: Rhyme game
The point was that "For every boat in the Americas" was in itself a clue to the word Peru. Therefore it was a Peru Clue.
(I can hear the whaling and gnashing of teeth from here. Oh, wait...)

Thanks!
I think it was just a bit too clever for me!
