Book Quiz
Book Quiz
There was a local quiz set over Christmas and there are a few answers I still haven't thought of. Any ideas?
The clues all refer to book titles although some are better known as films. The number refers to the words in the answer. If the titles includes a number imagine the number written out in words. 'The' and 'A' at the start of the title are counted - but only if the title actually does include the word!
7 The young boy has turned into a magician (2)
11 We pray it lasts for ever and ever (5)
24 This is v.v.good (3)
33 It's all been said before (4)
40 It's full of words (3)
46 Full of superlatives (5 originally but now 3)
62 A long ancient journey (2)
64 Swindalixes (4)
66 The author was never lost for words (2)

All of my puzzles are simple and obvious. For certain values of "simple" and "obvious".

Re: Book Quiz
I fancy Roget's Thesaurus for the last one
Hang on - on that basis 40 could be The Oxford Dictionary (I'm not sure if English needs to be in it).

Re: Book Quiz
Not entirely convinced about this but could 46 be Truly, Madly, Deeply...?
and the one about the journey might be The Oddessy?

You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it.

Re: Book Quiz
Thanks for the answers given so far - some really good calls. I don't think there's a book called 'Truely, Madly, Deeply'
At the moment I think
7 David Copperfield
11 The Power and the Glory
24 Bridget Jones' Diary
40 Oxford English Dictionary
62 The Odyssey
64 The Wind in the Willows
66 Roget's Thesaurus
Anyone any ideas for 33 or 46?

Re: Book Quiz
I like the answer for 7, but LOVE the clue for 64. I was looking at it on those lines, but my Latin wasn't good enough to recognise what I was seeing.
Re: Book Quiz
Thanks Kathlyn - that sounded like a good answer.
I had a moment a inspiration at 4am today and think that #46 is The Guinness Book of Records now called Guinness World Records.
