Work Puzzle

#1 Post by Vladikavkaz » Fri Aug 03, 2012 3:04 pm

My department recently had a 'day out', which included puzzles/games in teams.

I'd like to say my team won convincingly, but somehow we conspired to come last.

If we'd have got the following puzzle right, we would have won, that's how close the scores were, though.

The day out was held on the 13th July 2012.

---
Here are 8 clues, which lead to a final answer:

1. 236688 hours

2. Anthony Durkin & Peter Griffiths

3. By the Rivers of Babylon

4. 23 April 1924

5. 31 May 1926

6. My grandfather rode a camel

7. The Flugaustellung cafeteria

8. Image

Did you have access to research material or the internet - or was it supposed to be do-able from general knowledge?

Well, I couldn't do it even WITH the internet. I assume you work for a high-brow company, Vlad!!

had access to the internet. Only given an hour to do it, along with other tasks.

Problem was, I got the final answer as the answer to one of the smaller parts, so ended up trying to fit that with everything else. Didn't even get marks for trying.

I'll post the 'official' answer later.

Right, glad none of you guys got it either!

I actually got the right 'final answer' on this, but had it as my answer to part one, which threw my answer out.

1. 236688 hours

(since 13 July 1985, the date of Live Aid).

2. Anthony Durkin & Peter Griffiths

(visited every station on the London Underground in 16 hours 5 minutes, the same time as the duration of Live Aid start to finish).

3. By the Rivers of Babylon

(Psalm 137 … 13-7 … 13 July).

4. 23 April 1924

(date of the opening of the Empire Stadium, Wembley, later known as Wembley Stadium – venue of Live Aid in the UK).

5. 31 May 1926

(date of the opening of the Sesqui-Centennial Stadium, later known as JFK Stadium Philadelphia – venue of Live Aid in the USA).

6. My grandfather rode a camel

(a quote from Sheikh Al-Maktoum, Dubai Prime Minister, biggest single donor to Live Aid on the day).

7. The Flugausstellung cafeteria

(is a replica of Concorde, the plane used to fly Phil Collins to perform at both the London and Philadelpha Live Aid events).

8. (police mug shot of David Crosby from Crosby Stills Nash & Young, who played Live Aid Philadelphia whilst on bail for cocaine and weapons charges).

so the final answer was Live Aid, but I got that from question 1, so put 'Wembley'

More than a stewards enquiry on that one, I can tell you!
