Gill, just letting you know, I should be able to spare between 3-5 hours each day on this - if this is not enough or there's someone who can do more then I wouldn't be offended if you wanted to replace me, as I said I'm quite happy to just be a filler and sit on the subs bench in case anyone drops out.gill216 wrote: Be honest about how much time you have available please. That way if we have more than 10 we can split into 2 teams fairly- there doesn't have to be 10 per team- the rules are up to 10 per team.

Actually, a night owl is quite useful.
The puzzles are usually released at about midday Melbourne time.
Which is generally the middle of the night over here. So if anything, you're more likely to see the puzzles first rather than last

Re: Mums Hunt 2009 & Cisra 2009
How do they actually arrive? Do you download them, or are they sent by email?
Re: Mums Hunt 2009 & Cisra 2009
you log onto the site and download them. That part is easy, solving the puzzles is what is difficult
Re: Mums Hunt 2009 & Cisra 2009
I'm all difficulted out by a certain Meta puzzle that is not giving me any joy.
Re: Mums Hunt 2009 & Cisra 2009
You ought to give it a try - if only to get another perspective on "hunty" type & "meta" puzzles, and thereby either gain some sympathy for Scurra and the stick we give him, or alternatively some ammunition!
Re: Mums Hunt 2009 & Cisra 2009
I didn't mean I wasn't willing, just maybe not able?
Re: Mums Hunt 2009 & Cisra 2009
It's also worth noting that these Puzzle Hunts are designed to be solved by teams of people working together.
That's not really the case with puzzle magazines, which are generally intended to be done by a single person (although I am aware that there is a lot of hinting going on, that's not the same thing at all.)
In other words, you are not expected to turn up, solve 25 puzzles and go away. You're supposed to turn up, say something about one puzzle that seems obvious to you but which no-one else had spotted and then go away

Oh good. I was worried we'd be short of the people to say useful things.

Dare I mention collaboration tools? I think you might need to get a setup quickly so that people can know what they're supposed to be able to do to work together on something.

Thought I'd dust off the old puzzling jacket. My services are offered if you want them.
I promise to say at least one useful thing once. This may or may not be related to the Hunt.

Hi Vlad.
Yes, show up whenever you can; we'll be glad of all the help we can get.

I've tried to attach the link to Cisra but it won't happen, I'm having one of those days You need to look at 2008 if you can - that will give you an idea of the puzzle types from last year
Google Cisra puzzles and you should get an obvious link.
Where is Scurra when he's needed?

So it looks like you've got your 10. Phew, now I don't have to feel bad about offering to join and then not being able to do any of the puzzles. I'll cheer loudly from the sidelines for you all. Let us know how you are getting on!
You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it.
