Word Zendo
Re: Word Zendo
I am slightly unwilling to accept a Master who did not wait for their offering to be accepted before making a deduction - it isn't too much to ask, is it?
However, as the mantle has now been passed, may I enquire of the new Master whether they prefer looking in a mirror to contemplating a photograph?

Bunnylump wrote:Cenwulf, you have slightly confused me by having changed your post from offering tree and flower to having worked out the answer.
What happened is that I made the post, and enlightenment came before you managed to post a reply. So I edited my post to reflect it, hence the discrepancy. And when you did post, I thought you were congratulating me on discovering the Buddha nature. Sorry for being so over-hasty.
But ille puncta conjunctio, as Mr S would say.
First, novice LAT, the Buddha does not recline on either cushions or pillows.
And unfortunately-hastily-demoted novice Bunnylump (sorry!), although the Buddha is male, he does not mind being called Madam rather than Sir.
I must warn you against jumping to conclusions, however, as it is better to see things through to the finish.
Edit:And if novice Scurra is unwilling to accept me, should I reply to him?

From the previous page:
Humbly I adopt the position of master, or is it teacher?
It matters not. But I will first waylay Scurra and say that the Buddha favours bananas over apples, and that he prefers potatoes to tomatoes.

Well, we all have to put up with him, so I don't see why you should be exempt!!Edit:And if novice Scurra is unwilling to accept me, should I reply to him?

*Sigh* Oh well, if I must suffer Squirrel then I'll have to put up with him.
Novice Squirrel, the Buddha approves of both a mirror and a photograph.
Novice Bunnylump, the Buddha accepts the pellets and rejects the pallets.
Edit: Why hasn't the clock gone back? it's still only Sunday, yet the post says it's Monday.

Is that your pet name for him!
I may have to adopt that one just to annoy him.

Re: Word Zendo
Phew! What a lot of questions!
Novice Squirrel*, the Buddha doth indeed value forward thinking and rates tomorrow better than yesterday.
Novice supersleuth, the Buddha is above material wealth, but a salary is more favourable that an allowance.
Novice Laura, a title is indeed superior to a heading.
I am afraid, novice kathlyn, that the Buddha finds no merit in Wednesday or Sunday.
Novice kingsley, the Buddha is in favour of cabbages, but the lettuces are as of little worth as the carrots and cauliflower.
*'Scurra' (Latin: 'buffoon') is quite clearly derived from 'sciurus' (Latin, 'squirrel'), coming from the Greek 'skia-oura' (lit. 'shadow-tail'). According to Mr S and Xeno, that is...

Re: Word Zendo
I shall ignore the unprovoked insults from the Master because I suspect that he very much prefers monotonous droning to beautiful harmonies.
(I'd love to know on what basis you make that derivation assertion, other than a similarity in root.)

Monotonous? Yes. Harmonies? no.

I see that the Buddha doesn't like either Wednesday or Sunday. Does the Buddha prefer Days to Weeks or even Months to Years?

Novice LAT, the Buddha is beyond human time measures such as days, weeks, months or years. He prefers to measure time in moments.

Please can I make a guess then?

Greetings master, as a new student here, can I suggest that the Buddha would prefer beginnings to a start?
