Scurra & MBH obviously has played this sort of thing in the past
so its about fair....


and so everyone knows the term d&d

Chess Anyone??

Welcome thank you for joining in in our grand contest
you are the tenth team for our game
you are lead into a square room about 7 yards wide
a 10 ft square pit occupies one corner and a round chess table some 4 feet wide an other.
you are met by julian the guild wizard in charge of the first challenge
"good day challenges here is your starting equipment two bags one white one black.
one of them is a bag of devouring the other a bag of holding its upto you to detetrmine which is which, the bag of holding contains an immoveable rod and 10ft of rope both should accomplish this task.
your task is to get safely to the bottom of the 50ft deep pit"

the sdes of the pit are perfectly somothe so any attempt to climb will fail
also please note the spikes at the bottom weve taken the liberty of coating them with a very deadly poison, if you manage to get down there safely you should be able to manuver round the spikes and out the exit.
if you dont feel upto the challenge perhapse you'd rather spend some time playing a quick game of chess? no? then you may begin

10 points scored for each person who makes it through the door safely
but only 5 points for each person who leave after the hint

hmmm i think theres three things i have to explain


firstly a immovable rod
is a rod about 2 inches wide and three feet long with a button on the end when you press it it makes the rod fix in place...becomes immovable (hence the name) mid air against a door down some pants where ever (very useful device)
if you press it again it frees the rod....ready to be become immovable again

bag of holding
is like the tardis bigger on the inside than the outside basically what you put inside it is kept elsewhere and the opening of the bag gives you access to the storage space

bag of devoring
just like a bag of holding but the bags opening is actually the mouth of an creature and it pulls in the items stuffed into it ( like eager bunnys paws :-p) and eats them


the bags have been empted mostly by turning them inside out and not putting any thing in them
turning upside down wouldn't have worked cos the insides are elsewhere and don't get turned upside down to fall out but turning them inside out spoils the magical effects and causes the contence to spill out;-)

normally in real life i give 15 mins to do this challenge so ill be closing this one wednesday 4th march night anything posted after midnight wont count....

real solution to scene 1 (chess, anyone? )

first the hintthere's a clue in the placement of the chess pieces

and the soloution goes something like this
The players examine the chess pieces on the board
reading of each white piece in sequence from low numbers to high
same for the black pieces this tells them which bag is the bag of holding
white="cache"
black="badbag" or "badabg"
they remove the items from the bag
they then tip over the chess table and tie the rod securely to the table leg leaving a loose loop round as a hand hold
they then go to the corner of the square pit and hold it over and activate the rod..which holds the table firmly in place

one player sits on top of the table ( in between the legs feet positioned so the button to the rod is infront of them and easy to access the other three players climb on and around the table and hold on tightly

the player on the leg then presses the button a couple of times slowly dropping a couple of feet each time untill they are just above the spikes they then climb of and since the table is solidly placed lower themselves into a gap between the spikes then crawl past them to the exit....

end of scene 1

as avoid the remaining spikes you notice a smiling guy dressed in brown leather looking at you from the dooras you leave he takes off you the items from the room and shouts up to julian come and get the stuff you watch as julian stands at the top of the pit steps out and slowly decends right onto the spikes.....

which pass through him
he smiles and asks "dont you just love illusions?"
grabs the rod, rope and bags and sits on the table before whispering a few words to himself and rises up on the table setting it up for the next for vic...err volunteers


behind you you hear a gentle cough....friends this way please...

HELL TO PAY

Luther the gulid rogue stands before you he smiles this way please and leads you down a short corridor
near the end he opens a door stands to one side "in you go"
after you've all entered he stands in the doorway standing as tall has his 4 ft height will allow
the gnome says
"Youve just descended down one pit, for the next scenario, the goal is to climb out of another"
as you look around you realise your in a 20ft square room with a magic circle etched on the floor all sorts of strange symbles suround the circle and five burning candle on candlesticks are providing illumination
luther locks the door behind him
"okay heres the situation, your in the unenviable position of being at the bottom of a 30ft pit , where an evil necromancer performs his unholy rituals fifteen minutes from now an oyluth demon will appear in the middle of the magic circle and claim his payment for prior services rendered.the payment consists of 500 gold pieces kept in one of those unlocked chests" he indicates to the wall behind you " as well as the four flasks of sovereign glue kept in the other chest. Oh and of course anyone still in the room when he appears. I'd do my best not to make sure id left by the time the bonedevil shows up his appetite is noteworthy. of course noticing the smoothness of the walls climbing them is going to be tricky at best. still see what you can do. Good luck"

Please note there is a hint if you'd like to ask luther for it it will reduce your score from 10 points a person to 5 as in the previous scene

sovereign glue
like super glue only much much stronger counts as if the two items glued together were really the same item...


perfect for sticking the rod onto the back of the local knight with the butten just out of reach pressing it and nicking i mean borrowing all his money

mostly so i can post the next one sunday morning and lets you guys who are busy during the day to catch up

there about the same as the 1/2 kruger

inch across 1/3 of an ounce(metric) and made of mostly pure gold

scenario 3
Are Those Teeth Real?


exciting the second secnario you are met by a human guild wizard named MussFinch
"the next scenario calls for you to split up" he informs you ill need you to designate yourselves as team members 1 2 3 & 4" once youve decided who's who he continues " youll all be taken to a different platform along the four corners of a large room where you will each find a single potion vial. I wont tell you which potion is which thats for you to figure out- but one is a potion of spider climb one is a potion of blur ones a potion of water walking and the fourth is a vial of deadly poison
one of you will also have a ten foot rope and another player will have an immoveable rod. you ll find out who gets what when you get to your positions

your goal for this scenario is to make it to and through an opening in the celing of this room

one more thing youll find your platforms are 20 foot above the ground and with good reason
theres a nasty gibbering mouther down there with snapping teeth
as you might expect anyone falling down there with it will be delcared dead.
since the babberling if the gibbering mouther can drive a person insane here are four sets of earplugs for your own saftey please keep them in for the duration of the scenario.
and with the ear plugs in you wont be able to talk to each other
and if you want the hint for this level get on your knees and hold your hands together in a penitent fashion if i see all of you in such a position ill providr the hint telapathically"

a gibbering mouther is an abomination a creature that defyes the rules of nature

this creature seems to be drawn from the dreams of the insane
is seems to be a malable lump of flesh with it tendrils covered in eyes and mouths
when it sees possible food......living creatures preferably sentient it starts making nosies...well words all of its mouths talk in changing languages saying random things

you need to exit alive to score
so yes there is a way to score more without solving it than if you take the hint and get half points......

some more info on the room and your platforms

your platforms are relativily small
they are triangles with a small fence to stop you accidently falling off
the hypotenuse (the one opposite the door) is about 4 feet long with the longer of the other two sides being 4 ft long
the room is 20ft wide and 20 ft long but 40ft high
the celing is 20ft above the platforms
