Everything Must Go - Elizabeth Flock.
There is only one place this book is going once I get to the end of it and thats in the bin. I wouldn't even put it in the charity bag.

Well that's a good recommendation!
Re: I'm Busy Reading....
I found two copies of "Wee Free Men" on Kingsley's shelf (She didn't like it so not sure why two copies). I'm not sure if I'm enjoying it either.

I'm busy reading Sandi Toksvig's 'Gladys Reunited'. It's about her journey's to America to track down all the women who were in her High School play in the year before she was sent to a British boarding school. It's one of those books that I read again and again. Very funny, quite informative and interesting. I'd recommend it!

They were both birthday/christmas presents. I'm not sure why I have a single copy of it. I would say that it's 'bin-worthy'!giraffe wrote:I found two copies of "Wee Free Men" on Kingsley's shelf (She didn't like it so not sure why two copies). I'm not sure if I'm enjoying it either.

It is incredibly slow moving, and just when you think something must happen there is a flashback and it goes into reverse!

I think hints was about to say that she wished she had time for reading. But then realised she was hints.

Re: I'm Busy Reading....
All Change on my reading material:
By the bed - a Star Trek novel I've fogotten the title of
In the care - The Wish List by the guy who writes the Artimis Fowl books
and on the computer - George & Annie: an Unofficial Biography - http://www.fictionalley.org/authors/shosier/GAAUB.html
this is a good book so far, in the same time frame as a half-dozen books we may have read elsewhere but told from a totally different person's viewpoint. The story arc of the official books is totally secondary to the lives of the characters in this story

Hi
You all seem very well read. Can anyone advise on what book or books I should buy at the airport?
I like action, detective type books, plus funny books like Shopaholic, plus books about mysteries - I enjoyed the Dan Brown books, plus read Clive Cussler occasionally.
Regards
Paula

Re: I'm Busy Reading....
Hi Biscuit - I can match you with the Action, and some Detective books. I also very much enjoy Dan Brown even though a lot of people knock him [plenty of pace in his stories]. The Mark Billingham series about the police detective Tom Thorne feels very 'real' when you're reading them - the last one I mentioned was all about sleeping rough in London, and I like the fact I knew the areas being described.
No mention there of Sci-fi / Fantasy / Horror, so I'll leave my favourite group of female horror-writers to one side. So I'll recommend you look at some of the new teenage fiction that I'm enjoying so much. They are easier reading - so simple to pick up and put down - and the stories are very good.
One BIG recommendation is NOT to buy books at the airport - you get ripped off right, left, and centre. A few interesting looking titles at 50p each from the market is a much better idea, and it's not so bad if they get left on a beach somewhere (unless you're enjoying it and you want to know how the story finishes)

Biscuit - if you like Dan Brown then you'll probably like Sam Bourne.
My advice would be to go to a couple of charity shops and look at their books

There's no point in having a last minute if you don't use it!

Hi all
Thanks for your suggestions. Its market day tomorrow so I think I will wander in and see if they have a book section.
I will let you know of my selections.

Re: I'm Busy Reading....
I am now reading Harry Potter 6. Again. I only have books 2, 6 and 7 because my sister bought them all, so I never bothered, then she moved out! (The cheek - when I wanted to steal her books!!!)
I'll have to get around to buying the others some time.

Thank goodness I wasn't the only person who thought that when I first saw Bunny's post.
Although it did remind me that I needed to finish that G&S puzzle off. [Oh, what a giveaway.]

Re: I'm Busy Reading....
I'm busy reading The Story of Music from Antiquity to Present as background reading for my grade 8 clarinet. It's not the most engaging of reads, but I suppose it might come in handy if I need to talk to the examiner about how the Ancient Egyptians used to play animal bones as instruments or about medieval chants! When I've finished this one then I'm going to read Classic FM's Friendly Guide to Music which looks slightly better because it come with a CD and looks more useful!
