Well done Laura, it sounds as though you have worked really hard for this. I bet you're pleased and proud now.

And thank goodness for ladies called Margaret eh giraffe?

Funny thing is Margaret frequently phones me in a complete panic about something, not the other way round. Nice to be able to return the favour!

I'm glad all the musical elements are well done or solved and ready to be well done :)

(Laura - Miner's helmet  )

This evening I've mostly bin..... avoiding going to the Town Moor for the 3rd time this week. It is piddling down with rain which is forcing itself through the thick fog  You can hardly see the big wheel from the road... seriously.

Which is such a transformation from 24 hours earlier when I took these :-

Here is the Big Wheel - note the clear sky of a lovely Thursday evening. On Friday? VANISHED into the fog and mist

No bows and arrows this year, so I had a go on the air rifles - 9 hits out of 10 gave me a new pal for Jennie - He loves her, but she seems less impressed with him...

Thick fog? Rain? It's been sweltering here!!
Nice pics, MBH. And I'm not a doggie person but your dog is absolutely adorable. :D

Believe it or not, I did actually suggest a head torch like they use for caving, but everyone laughed at me!!! It would have looked quite amusing. If I'd thought of it before-hand (which you never do, do you?) I could have had a candle on the piano like the ones on stage. Then it would have matched, and I'd've been able to see!!!!!!!!

... back to the fair for the last time this year. Took a load more pictures, but I won't mess this thread up by posting more here [you all know what a fairground looks like] ;)

Looked quite eerie earlier in the day with drizzle and fog everywhere, but it was a BIT dryer tonight :)

Can you send some rain down here please. The garden could really do with it.

Didn't have any here today, but about 10 miles away there were flash floods.

We had a downpour last night though.

Hi Guys :) MBH is in the shower 'cleaning the Moor off him' (whatever that means) but he's left the computer on - so I'm sneaking on to say "Thank You" for your kind words :) A girl does her best, but it's nice to have 'cuteness' recognised... You would be surprised how many non-doggy people I have 'befriended' in my 12+ years living here.

clvrlad - [Nice avatar... I'm wagging my tail back at you] - thanks for the suggestion but if MBH goes to have fun with the rest of you then I have to stay here and look after my Mum. She relies on me a lot. If we are ALL going somewhere then they always pick dog-friendly hotels and we go as a full pack.

giraffe - arn't you TALL  - your flash floods are more of a problem for me since I'm only 6-inches high at the shoulder. [I like MBH's Fraggle friend, but he tells me that she is another challenge..... who could be afraid of little old me? Apart from the Rottweiler down the road :D ]

Anyway... I can hear the shower being switched off (I'll need to get in there and lick his leg as usual - I can't understand him deliberatly standing under running water and getting wet  ) So I'll say it's nice to finally sneak on this forum, and goodnight to you all.

what an adorable and clever dog you are.

If I didn't have Olly I wouldn't one a dog like you.

Aw... :D

We had a horrendous thunderstorm yesterday. There were several strikes locally and all my Mum's electrics went out during the storm. It waited until about 12:30am before we got our power cut - I rang EDF and they said 3000 homes had lost power!!! It was off for about 5am.

I think I might have been in a cupboard hiding - I don't like thunderstorms - hopefully you had plenty candles

Luckily, yes. We had loads of tea lights and little lanterns left over from the party. They came in very handy!! Mind you, we're always prepared now, after a major fault last year on the electrics was causing regular power cuts (so many we were able to claim £50 back off our electricity bill!!)

I remember one particular power cut when we lived in Reading, OH was working in Japan, so I was home alone with baby Kingsley. I had just run a bath and undressed when the power went off. So I decided to carry on by candlelight. I had just got into the bath when the doorbell rang, I got out, wrapped myself in a towel, and opened the door. It was really spooky because there were no streetlights on and no lights in the house obviously. There on the doorstep were all the neighbours, come to check I was alright as they knew I was on my own. I think they had all emerged from their houses to check it was the whole street off and not just them and realised I wasn't there. Very sweet of them, but rather embarassing to be virtually naked in front of half the neighbourhood.
