Great. I desperately need a supermarket shop. Hearing that I just can't wait. Mind you, we don't have students here who buy up all the small portions (nearest uni is in Hatfield). It's just like that in Penryn (where my son is at Exeter university) - they have an enormous Asda, but if you go there just after the students have got back there are lots of missing bits. Fortunately for him he's not the typical student (who seem to be purchasing pizza, crumpets, ice cream, crisps and beer, and not a lot else whenever I see them). He LIKES healthy food. (Mind you he does like the beer part too. unlike his sister who is teetotal.)

Someone rang the school this morning to complain that yesterday after school the kids had been throwing snowballs at each other in the road outside. Well duh. They are kids. And there is snow. Some people defy belief, don't they??

What, you mean pizza isn't a healthy food? You'll be telling me that a packet of fruit gums doesn't count as one of my five-a-day next...

Today I've been panicking. (I can never decide whether that should have a K in it or not).

One of the schools where I teach piano is doing Guys and Dolls as their play this year and I offered my services in the band, playing woodwind. They got the parts today, and I've got the first reeds part (Piccolo, Flute, Clarinet, Alto Sax). It's very fast, very high, in lots of sharps or flats (for those of you who that means anything to), the score is 92 pages long, and I have about 3 seconds to swap from one instrument to the other several times in each piece. I suspect not much puzzling will be done in the next two and a half weeks - show starts 1st Feb!!! EEeeeekkkk!!! :?

Cripes, Laura! That sounds like a bit of a tall order! :o (Yes, I do understand the sharps / flats fast playing issue). Good luck with that! :D

And Scurra, I'm perfectly sure that by that token, the lemon in a vodka and tonic must count as one of the five a day too... doesn't it??

Absolutely! And jam is made from fruit, so that's got to be one. Not to mention fruit and nut chocolate!

Good call, Laura! :D

My hairdresser just turned up. Having not transferred all the stuff from last year's calendar yet that was quite a shock! :D Still, we are now all shorn and tidy again. I'll swear that every time she comes she's had a different "procedure" done. Last time she suddenly had gleaming white teeth, this time she looks suspiciously like she's had a "lift" in the eye region. Can someone please tell me why would ANYONE in their right minds voluntarily have unnecessary surgery? I'd far rather just look like an old bag. (And before the chorus starts, yes I know I do already AND I DON'T CARE!).

chocolate is derived from beans doesn't that make it a vegetable ?

It annoys me how people always ring up schools to complain but they never ring up to say positive things. Me and my friend and helped out a guy who was struggling to get up a hill in the ice in his van by pushing him to stop the wheels spinning and we were hoping that he would ring up the school so we would get in the teacher's good books. No such call to the school though

Well said Fernando. I got a big hug this morning from a child in Primary 2. I said thank you and she replied 'You're welcome' I then got a big hug.

I just love kids!!! (though I couldn't eat a whole one)

I could. But only if they count as one of my five a day...

Today I am chilling out - that is once I come back from the hospital - I am getting another couple of steroid injections into my knuckle and my left wrist. After thet I shall sit on the sofa and have a look at the new magazine, maybe read my book; but will not reallybe able to use the computer much. We are now clear of snow and ice , but I am thinking of those of you who still have snow especially those who got a big dump of snow last night.

just off out with my friends - one is celebrating a "big" birthday and the other is off to start a new life down under.

Really sad coz i will miss her - we play badminton most Fridays and our children are the same age.

Also we moan about the snow but those poor people in Hati (prob wrong spelling) - and most living under the poverty level.

Have a great time, Biscuit.

And I can't believe how dreadful it must be for those trapped people. I couldn't think of anything more terrifying. I've just made a donation on line to the DEC appeal.

Ok - isn't life great sometimes? Just when you're really feeling carp, have had a very long and awful day and are crochety and miserable something turns up to cheer you up?

Remember I told you all about my lovely pupil who went to uni? I hadn't heard from him since he got his results. I was wondering how he was getting on... Out of the blue, he just texted me to say:
"Hi I just thought you'd like to know that I've handed in 2 assignments - I got a B and a C for them. I'm having a great time and have made lots of friends. :D "

That's just made my week. :D :D :D :D (Yes I know I'm sad and easily pleased!!)

Your job sounds so rewarding Bunnylump - you put a lot in and you get a lot out. - Well done:)

ps evening was good.

Hard to get up for work today thought especially with two meetings with different Bank managers. We need funding for a very busy February (so much work which is unusual for us at this time of year) coz our work is mostly seasonal. (summer time)

Watch out there, Clvrlad. You're going soft in your old age. Which is a bit of a worry for a metal dog...

I'm not fishing for congratulations here. I've done lots of jobs in the past which were pretty hateful. It's just nice to do one which (mostly) I like and can do. There are times when it drives me mental though like anyone else.

Biscuit - it's quite something to be so overrun with work in the present economic climate. That sounds very positive. :D Glad to hear your evening went well!
