Only two teachers stuck Bunnylump? When Kingsley went back on Tuesday 11 of their teachers were stuck abroad. Mind you it is a language college, so they probably have more than the usual quota of foreign staff. The Japanese teacher was stuck in Japan and 2 german teachers were stuck in Germany. They had a Geography trip for 6th formers to Iceland, but they came back the day before the eruption. (I bet they were miffed that they missed that!)

We've a selection of people missing, but then, we've also got some who are in and weren't expecting to be...
We're waiting to see whether our ex-boss (who retired, but is still working 5 days a month) comes in today (he said he'd be in some point this week). We've not heard from him since a postcard from New Zealand a week ago....
Just shows every ash cloud has a silver lining - hopefully we get peace & quiet for a bit longer!

We've got 5 altogether, but in the maths dept. it's the head of maths and the deputy head who are off. We've also got tons of children off (one of the girls I usually work with is stuck in Cuba).

we have been given flights for the 30th which means i will have been away from work for a whole month - and they are already having problems that i can't sort out....

BIscuit

ps anyone know richard branson's email - i think he probably doesnt realise what is happening

My thought now is that if the people that were going to come on the 16th and leave today (23rd) are still showing on their system as live passengers the planes might look full but they will not actually turn up. How can all the planes be full of passengers already due to fly out when i would have thought passenger numbers would slow down after the easter period.

Some people have managed to purchase tickets off of people who were due to fly today at a premium rate just to get home.

Biscuit, Mandy's friend was stuck in Malaga, as per previous post.

She was given a flight date of Saturday 24th but put herself on the standby list and got home Tuesday. Are you near enough to the airport, contactable and able to get there in a hurry? Worth a shot at least if you are deperate.

Biscuit - the lack of action bt Virgin is being highlighted by BBC breakfast telly. That might spur Richard Branson on.

Biscuit, said on tv that Virgin are asking people to delay their new flights to give those stuck the chance to get back, might be worth nagging / checking frequently! (I'm sure you are already)

funny you should say that as a family offered her seats up last Wednesday but the virgin rep checked with her office and said they would charge an admin fee!!!

Anyway they are now sending repatriation flights and i should be on one so should only be a few more days so I am now going to make the most of the sun.

we have a orthopaedic surgeon stuck in America (supposedly till May 4th) big amputation op has had to be cancelled.

Couple of teachers at my daughters school are still not able to get back and my friends daughter was 2 days late back from France and her dad (who she was staying with) is going to sue the airline for her board and keep (mind you that's why my friend divorced him, he does anything for a quick buck and publicity)
I don't have hot flushes. I have short holidays in the Tropics.

Thanks - i am back. I feel sorry for anyone who has had to have operations cancelled - we were only inconvenienced but i am sure the airlines will go for government compensations along the lines of the 9/11 compensation payments.

Phew its good to be back - was a little worried the other volcano would erupt at the last minute and i didnt sleep as i wanted to make sure the engines were still going and it was a fairly turbulent flight.

One of our teachers finally got back from Denver. She HAD been offered some business class seats a day earlier for a mere £1500 for the three of them!!!

welcome home!

Our ex-boss arrived back today - he'd had a week extra holiday in Auckland, staying relatively cheaply in a really nice hotel. He said their airline had prioritised those who had been stuck further up the route home - so since they were still in NZ when it all happened, they got to stay there. Got home earlier than their original rearrangement - which was May 1st....
now just got to hope he manages to reduce the 1800 photos he took to a reasonable number before he brings them in and talks us through each and every one in detail  :o
