It does make you wonder how many *didn't* bring them back after a day trip for them to think it worth mentioning

The pram looks like one of those bins on wheels that streetsweepers use.

If it had been me, I would probably have mislaid the children somewhere. I remember with horror the day I pushed the "wrong" pram out of Mothercare. Well, actually it was the right pram, but had the wrong baby in it. I only realised when some demented mother attacked me...

I must say that I didn't walk the streets either. Too lazy!!

I remember a friend telling me when he was a new father, how easy it was living in Australia with young children. He said you could take a baby anywhere, you just had to remember to take it home at the end of the evening! ( I could just see him getting home and then realising he had left something in the pub   )

 Oh, I also left David on the pavement in his car seat when we were packing the car to go on holiday. We got to the bottom of the road before we realised...

I personally think that managing to stay clean while in charge of children is quite an achievement. When you think of all the sick and snot and dirt they wipe all over you, she was doing quite well really!!!

I lost Kingsley once in Mothercare. They probably have a member of staff specially for rounding up the strays.

I was with a friend and her toddler, they were probably both about 18 months old, I was looking at something on the shelf and my friend and the children wandered off. When I turned round my friend and her son were together, but thought Kingsley was with me, no sign of her anywhere in this small branch of Mothercare, I rushed around like something demented, out on the street and back in again and then she wandered out of a space rocket (one of those rides you put money in and it makes noises) in the middle of the shop. I never let her out of the pushchair again, and the other two were kept prisoner in the pushchair until they were three!

Mind you we still managed to lose Lally on holiday in the middle of the night aged 2. We were staying in a flat in the Florida Keys, surrounded by water, and I got up in the night to check on the children, who were rather disorientated by jet lag and had been getting up at weird hours of the night. There was no sign of Lally anywhere, I searched everywhere, including in the wardrobes and had visions of her leaving the flat and falling into the water. Eventually found her lying on top of Fernando! (Only one child sized lump in his bed) The next night we found her lying fast asleep on the bedcovers folded down at the bottom of our bed. Frightened the wits out of me again.

Great reference for you Nan, Bunny  Nice to know she wasn't carelessly leaving children all over the place. This is exactly the right thread for you to post this, in consideration of YOUR care of other people's kids.... even if there are a few of them you would like to lose ;)

Laughing my head off at the vanishing Lally   Along with Kingsley it sounds like you've got a couple of adventurous girls there.

Just been to my Dad's and have been finding out all sorts of interesting family history nuggets: including - a bigamist who featured in the News of the World  , a Cornish "giant", 4 generations of Knights, and the fact that my Grandfather falsified his age so that he could enlist as a soldier in the first World War!! We are planning to go to Devon (to do ash scattering) and have found that a house that my Great Great Grandparents lived in is available for a holiday let, so we may try to stay there! :D

strange that you normally have twice has many people in your family each step up
(1 becomes 2 becomes 4 becomes 8 becomes 15)
yes i know my maths wrong there but its also true ;-)
strange how we all think we came from one or two people ;-)
There are 10 kinds of people in the world
Those who understand binary, and those that don't.

Thing is that as you go backwards in time there are more and more in each family. For example, one of my Grampys was one of 12, the other one of 10. Consequently I had lots of great uncles and zillions of second cousins
