I seem to be back on at last as well....
I had almost given up and was about to send a plea for new password, when I decided to try it on my laptop - and here it is :D
Good to be back.
I'm just watching the proms on BBC4- a special Spanish night with lots of Spanish style music by various composers. And there in the middle of listening I suddenly found a Spanish picture to go with it - all those glamorous Senoritas and one embarassed lad
Ah well, maybe that's enough doting grandmas for one week......

I'm not surprised he looks a bit shy, those Spanish girls look terrifying!

...Making my son try out our car trail. He actually started to get quite enthusiastic and I had to reign in some of his wilder suggestions, which involved hiding things in really scary places, making jigsaws out of crisps etc.... ...

I seriously dread to think what a car trail written by him would be like. I'll swear he's off his head. Some people kindly refer to him as "eccentric". He must have got that from his Dad.

hmmm

Now when I met his Dad he didn't strike me as particularly eccentric.

.....trying to get the water out of the washing machine!

It is full (very full) of water and clothes and won't empty. I suspect the pump has broken. I had the number of a very helpful washing machine man, who only charged me £5 call out last time he came, but I can't find it. :( To add to the problems the gap the washing machine is in is so tight that we had to take the skirting board off to get it in. Since then we have had the kitchen refitted and they have put a batton on the wall to hold the end of the work surface, then they must have pushed the machine in. There is absolutely no room to wiggle the machine forwards and it is very heavy, being full to the brim with water. Might have to demolish the worksurface to get it out.

After much wiggling a millimeter at a time we have moved it about 6 inches forward. The really good news is that we turned it back on and it had pumped itself empty and is now spinning. I think there must be a partial blockage of the pipes.

Well done - presumably moving it forward was enough to shift the blockage by stretching the pipe.
Of course, a repair man would have done the same, found it worked and then charged a fortune for his 'labour'
We once had a kitchen which had been beautifully fitted by a previous owner - and then the floor tiled afterwards in front of all the appliances, at least one of which fitted tightly under the worktop...... which meant that it needed to be lifted over the floor in front. Even when we managed to get it out, we found that the replacement was not the same size and there was a gap left in the floor tiles.

I told the kitchen fitters I would only have it done if the floor didn't need retiling. Our kitchen is about 25 feet long and it would have been hugely expensive and the floor is really nice anyway. We moved one cupboard slightly, because the gap for the fridgefreezer was too narrow and that left a gap and we had a door knocked through from the kitchen to the "music room" (ex garage!) which meant there was a gap in the doorway, but the previous owners had left us a few spare floor tiles, so we have manged to put them in to fill the gaps. There is a join in one tile down the side of the fridge, but it is unnoticeable. (I hope)

I'd better go and put some more washing on......fingers crossed.

Today I took my friends mother out for a meal then onto the local garden centre and then some shopping. My friend is away in Canada at the the moment - and it is a long standing joke that I treat her mother as my other mother. It saves Elaine getting anxious and it gets her Mum out of the house.

She said she couldn't tell who was at fault so we were all in trouble

Was that when Harry hugged Hermione? I had a tear in my eye then, much to the disgust of my son.
