If you want something easy to put out which involves no effort, I'd suggest French stick and a cheeseboard, plus some grapes. However, if there are a lot of old people there this might not be such a good plan (French bread isn't great with false teeth, I believe...). Hope your day is a success, Tricia!

well following that idea, some crackers and cheese would work. The crumbs might get caught but at least the teeth would cope with the biscuits better than French bread

Cold roast potatoes or a bowl full of new potatoes is a good filler.

Older folks might not like this but it went down a treat with the youngsters.

I'll have to ask my daughter what its actually called because all I got was instructions from the 6 year old. It begins with an F :?

Tear bits off a baguette and poke a hole almost through the middle but leave it so it still has a bottom. Drizzle olive oil into the hole, dip the whole thing into passata (sieved tomatoes, dirt cheap in supermarkets) sprinkle with a tiny bit of salt.

I do a flan for events which is really easy. Salmon and sweetcorn. Blind bake pastry case. Big tin of salmon with all the bones and skin removed, Large tin of sweetcorn (drained) put both in a white sauce, pour into pastry sprinkle with lots of cheddar. Put it in the oven for 30 mins gas mark 6. This makes enough for a normal round flan dish. I have a big one that is about 15 inches diameter and I double the quantities.

True - but I love it  I've just polished off a demi-baguette for my supper after getting back from working in the club.

Well I still think you look good MBH ;)

Biscuit - I started with antelope and I thought it was straghtforward. Quagga is a good one too.

Biscuit I started with monkey and did it all by myself so it has to be easy.

... glad I left work at 4pm - a colleague got the last bus out from town and nearly got trapped in with the rioters in the centre of Manchester. Won't say anything other than IDIOTS! (in case I'm accused of getting political)

Quite MBH. I like this type of puzzle and do them regularly so that's probably why I found it easy. But don't tell scurra I said that as I'll never get another one to do.

Are you on holiday or have you done something drastic?
