Yes N was quite impressed at how quickly I got it. :D

Today I had what must rank as one of the cheapest car repairs ever. It cost me 52 pence.

What was it? A Corgi toy?!
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
All of my puzzles are simple and obvious. For certain values of "simple" and "obvious".

How many buttons did you have to undo for that?

:P

No, genuine repair - and it's a long time since anyone suggested I undid any buttons for them :D

The 52 pence was the cost of the part I needed. And the nice chap at the garage fitted it for free - it only took him about 2 minutes.

... Well it was either buttons or he was scared of you. One of the two. That's not normal behaviour for a garage mechanic. And I wouldn't go shouting to loudly that you haven't been asked to open buttons in a long time, you'll end up with a list of requests if you're not very careful.

A dark horse? She who on the Word Sentence Game always seemed to end up naked??? :o I think we've had our not-so-secret nudist pegged for a long time ;)

Still, getting anything for 52p these days is amazing.

I'm off to check out the Connect game on iPlayer ;) Probably won't be any good as I've only done one of the puzzles this issue.

mutters quietly about pay freezes followed by a massive 1% pay rise and increased pension contributions, not to mention sqeezes in tax credits but doesn't say it loudly because it will annoy Scurra by being political, sorry

I called at a Ford garage today to get a bulb for my car and they said they weren't sure which one I needed and the bulbs are £1 each, so they'd give me them both but only charge me for one.

Oh, and today I've mostly bin...
totally without a voice. The really annoying thing is that if I'm still like this tomorrow, I HAVE to go into work (because of the strike action day) unless I get a sick note from the Doctor. We've only got the sixth formers coming in (most of whom can't get there because the buses aren't running) and I have NINE staff to find jobs for and no lessons for them to go to. My boss is on strike, so I'm going to have a wonderful day tomorrow, aren't I?

Sorry this should have been on the whinge thread, I suppose.

poor you bunny. At least they'll all have to listen very carefully when you tell them what to do.

And MBH - strange the things you remember!

 You think it strange that a man remembers someone talking about naked women? Mind you, even I can remember that. I think it was when we kept ribbing you about the "skinny dipping" episode. But then I remember equally well some of the other stupid conversations. The King of the Swingers comes to mind. As does Germolina and the Queen of Sheba. I can't, of course, remember what I did YESTERDAY...

Oh heck, it's years and years since I did any skinny dipping. I was young and carefree once!

I've never been that young and carefree! (except the time I dived into a swimming pool, lost my bikini top and didn't notice, until my friend Mike pointed it out!)

i keep promising myself.

BUT have started a second job which unfortunately has had an accounts person in who put a virus on the whole system - they have let her go but in the meantime i am 3-4 weeks behind with a year end, vat return, payroll and all the general receipts and paperwork. plus i have only ever used sage to practice never for real so a real learning curve and it is a real case of incomplete accounts if you know what i mean. In addition a colleague wants to get together and start a business with me and wants me to write a couple of business plans (another first) - life is just too complicated. What can i say it is so much fun. plus my new boss buys me loads of bacon sarnies has taken me to the pub one evening on an induction and has a radio on policy in the office. - real home from home.

my other job is really on the back burner. - it worries me a bit but i have hired someone in full time (better qualified) and over the past year have increased the hours in my dept by 32.5 and decreased costs by £5000 so i do not see how my father can complain.

o role on time to puzzle.

Sounds like you've found a good boss. :D Hope the new job continues to go well. The puzzles will still be there when you do find the time, and folk will always be around to give a nudge if/when needed.

And hopefully your father is happy too.
