Have not mentioned to father - ultimate betrayal. But when I handed in my notice I agreed a return package of working remotely and getting someone to handle the day to day at my expense -am working 16 hours at work 10 remotely and 20 at other job although doing quite a few extras to help. One day left house at 7.30 and got back home at 10.30 pm -exhausted

I'm not surprised you were exhausted. That's a long day. Hope things ease off a bit soon.

Goodness, I hope things calm down for you soon Biscuit. But good on you for having the courage of your convictions! And new boss does indeed sound like a breath of fresh air!!

...Working at school with no pupils in it. Although actually, I could do with a whole week of this to catch back up with all the massive backlog of admin. I had all my staff on various missions, and we didn't even get as far as STARTING on the filing mountain... So come on teachers, some more strikes please.

The school was nice and quiet, though. What was really odd was that lots of people seemed to have the need to put radios on in their offices because they thought it was too "spooky" without all the usual pupil rumpus going on. I personally would have enjoyed the silence. But then, I am odd.

I actually quite like having music on at work but that doesn't usually go down well in an office with other people there.

Today I've been to London to the Degas exhibition at the Royal Academy. My husband realised he could get us both in for free so we decided to go. Lovely paintings and sculptures. :D

I'm so jealous of people who can have music on at work. It just doesn't go well with the beginner piano lessons, somehow. :?

I like music while I work too. At home OH would choose rock/blues. I'd choose country, 70's or MotR. One mans poison etc.

I discovered only the other day that we have an art gallery about 5 mins walk away  Its stuck behind Artco which supplies art materials and that is a corrugated prefab type of thing but the Hester gallery behind it holds regular exhibitions of up and coming artists- and occasionally the well knowns. At the moment its Richard Eurich and last month was Dora Holzhandler. Always free. I'm a teeny bit suspicious as to whether these are prints or originals so I will just have to go and find out won't I. I cant believe we have an originals gallery on our doorstep but then again I did see David Hockney originals on my son's doorstep in Saltaire Mills- and I couldn't buy a print that my mum wanted. Scurra is on the case of that one :D .

There's a David Hockney exhibition coming to the Royal Academy early next year. They might have prints for sale there so if I know what you want I could look out for it then - we definitely plan to go. Or are you after it for Christmas?

It was "Spectators in Alaska".Scurra is going to check out the British Library for me next time he's in there. No its not particularly a xmas present. It could be a B'day 80th if I can get my hands on it.
Thanks.

I am fortunate we live at the top of the hill and have not been directly affected with floods.

at the morning job the radio is on - usually talk rather than music and have to keep myself in check as i keep laughing out loud - for instance the commentator having listened to the plight of a woman in ireland who could not afford to keep her heating on and was upset with the strikes as she could not afford heating let alone a pension. The commentator ended the conversation by saying that was so and so from a lovely part of ireland - all be it a bit cold in the winter - it seemed to so undermine her plight.

Not bad, only one mistake!
Hope you enjoyed it anyway. Somehow I don't think we'll be having an office Christmas dinner this year!

Now you see because I am used to your, um, non-traditional spelling at times, I wondered how you had managed to get TWO Christmas Dinners. Then I realised what you actually meant. :)
