Re: Today I've mostly bin...
My daughter now has wavy hair after having straight hair most of her life but she did have kiss curls as a baby. She has more grey than me now though. My hair seems to be stronger than it was now that the grey is multiplying. Bring it on is all I can say. Bunny- I once had blonde highlights and hated them and a copper colour sent them pink as well. My daughter was about 16 at the time and she wouldn't be seen out with me

Think yourself lucky. My son won't be seen out with me whatever I look like!!

I, too, have a son with distinguished greying hair - who could fail to respect such a person?gill216 wrote: has more grey than me now though.

Errr....
I reckon that grey hair looks nice on men, actually. Look at the lovely George!! Although my husband has much less grey hair than I do and is two years older. I just say that's not fair. I've never quite worked out why grey hair makes women look OLDER and men more DISTINGUISHED. There's something wrong there, isn't there?

The only reason we call men with grey hair distinguished is because it distinguishes them from the young men

Well, that sums it up, doesn't it? But I don't know about you, I don't look at the young kind any more. I tend to terrify them if I do...

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
My OH is 62 but has hardly any grey hair and his mother is 83 and she still is brown haired. My hairdresser has just told me she thinks I'll soon need a tint Life's not fair!
Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I could say the same thing about my OH - but I'd have to leave out the word grey.Snoopy wrote:My OH is 62 but has hardly any grey hair
My sisters are cross with me though, as although they are older than I am, they were considerably greyer when they were younger than I am now.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
No, it's not, is it? I had hoped that I would follow after my Mum, who only really went grey (and even then not completely grey) in her 80s. Knowing my luck I'll go grey AND bald like my Dad!!
EDIT and LAT was rotten. When I went to her house for the first time, I rang her from the bottom of her road because she has a house name, not a number. She said "look out for a bald bloke. I'm sending my husband out to find you." Quite an introduction...

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I started going grey just after F was born in my late twenties. I dread to think what my natural state is now, completely grey I suspect. My sister is less grey. but much more wrinkly! I'd rather be grey, at least I can dye it.
Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Apologies I've been v quiet lately and unable to get on with puzzling.
I have been making some changes to my life and hopefully on the 22nd June I will have more free time.
The plan is to work part time 20 hours a week and in addition work on a new company that my sister and I are in the process of setting up - and NOT work for my father's company at all. I think most people think I am insane but sometimes life is just too short as poor Tricia proved, you never know what is around the corner.
Anyway hopefully next month I will be back to bothering everyone with my hint requests - i have really missed reading and following everyone's posts and feel right out of touch.

Indeed! It will be great to have you puzzling again.
And best of luck in the new venture with your sister too!

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Biscuit - lovely to have you back. And I don't think you are insane at all, I think you're sensible. I've NEVER wanted, or needed a "career" or lots of money. I'm much happier working part time, and having a social life. I can get all my horrible jobs like housework and shopping done on my (sometimes) one day a week off and then have the weekend to slob about and meet friends. Why people want to work 50 hours a week and spend the weekend recovering is totally beyond me. Mental.
Looking forward to helping on some of those puzzles!!

Feeling a bit mean to be laughing...but...continuing on the hair theme...
My hippy sister in law's boyfriend (AKA Boatboy) had to have all his dreadlocks cut off because my niece brought home head lice from the primary school and he had a NEST. Yuk. But I can't tell you how much better he must look - a 45 year old with a bald head and dreadlocks down the back is not a pretty sight. So now he's JUST bald.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I know what you mean, Bunny. There was a chap at my work who had dreadlocks. It was really funny as he was going bald and grey. Unfortunately we suspect his dreadlocks were actually extensions as they weren't as grey as the rest... now that looked weird.
Luckily he finally decided to have them removed (think he must have been late 40s). The only problem is, I now don't recognise him!

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Thing is, I think they are fair enough for Rastafarians, because it's part of their way of life. But on a 45 year old, pasty, white male, well, they just look(ed) STUPID.

...getting wet watching a lot of boats. Along with quite a lot of other people...
I think pretty much everyone who saw any of the tv coverage had a better view - but on the other hand, the crowd was amazing considering how little of it most of us could actually see though. The Thames - at least in the centre of London - is not the best place to try and watch this sort of thing.

Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.

You should have taken your brother in law and sat on his shoulders...
I did wonder if you would go to that.
