I'll suggest it
Morris group is crying out for younger members. It will die out unless they come forward. Though there are some sides with them. The 14 yr old in OH group has been dancing with them for 4 yrs and enjoys it but he can't persuade his peer group to join.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I was a similar age when I learned ballroom dancing and was the only male I knew that did it - so I was fairly well out on my own. Never good enough (or interested in) the competition side of dancing and it was only because there were so few guys that I ended up on the old time formation team.
The dancing did end up giving me a number of 'transferable skills' that still come in handy

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I did ballet (pet elephant ballet) & tap until I was about 9. Then I did ballroom and got up to gold medal standard but I don't know how. I was more interested in the associated disco on a Saturday night I've also been a morris dancer (but I'm of the stick kind, not the waving of the hankies,) and I also taught line dance for several years.
There is only set of basic steps that encompasses all forms of dance so once you know them you can fit right in anywhere! And I've always reckoned it all comes down to totem pole dancing.

I've been doing staff performance management meetings all day. Jesus, losing the will to live...
...but stopped on my way home (about an hour ago) and got the Marigold Hotel DVD. I haven't seen it but have good reports.

I was on the phone last week about accelerated reading program and the guy on the phone offered me a job! My boss was going to kill him but it seems really good. I work with great staff - they keep me sane

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Well I'm fed up because one of the new girls we took on in March has just been offered a place on a PGCE so she'll be leaving in a couple of weeks. So yet more interviewing and yet more training of new staff. I wouldn't mind but I said we shouldn't have taken her on because to me it was OBVIOUS that a 24 year old who's just passed her degree wouldn't stay longer than a few months. I got overruled by stupid boss and her boss. Guess I was right...surprise surprise.
However, the DJ I suggested we took on (and this time they actually let me get my own way) is proving to be BRILLIANT. He's just started up the school radio station again and is going to start running a DJ course after school.
Anyone want to come and work for me??

Well I have a degree and I keep getting asked to do a Masters in Engineering but I wouldn't dream of it and my boss thought I would leave.

I've had a word with him, and he's backing up my new policy for movement between classes. All pupils (and staff) will Salsa, Samba or Cha Cha Cha depending on what rhythm he plays. End of last class will see the pupils exit the grounds JIVINGBunnylump wrote:However, the DJ I suggested we took on (and this time they actually let me get my own way) is proving to be BRILLIANT. Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I don't dance, as I have two left feet. I once walked out of a step aerobics class as someone had left a step in the way and I kept tripping over it.
Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I've given up any dancing when there is anyone else around. The nearest I get to dancing now is if there is some good music on TV and I'm doing the ironing when no-one else is still up and I might move to the music a bit.

... taking Thomas to a pre-school taster session. He cried on arrival and wanted to leave, but as soon as the Assistant invited him to play with the plastic farm animals, he was in and thoroughly enjoyed himself. I don't think he'll have much difficulty settling in come September.

Goodness! Where's that time gone?
But I think it's lovely when they start going to school/nursery. It's the beginning of a separate life and the chance to talk about experiences that haven't been shared. It's when you really start to see your child through other people's eyes too.
