Just had a text from Kingsley to say they are live on Midlands breakfast TV tomorrow morning (National Schools Symphony Orchestra).

We don't get Midland breakfast TV here, unfortunately. Remember to record it for posterity!! :D

It may be possible to see it online if you were interested in what she has been up to. I guess it's only the main orchestra, Lally is in the junior section.

She said between 8 and 9am. I imagine it will only be for a few seconds, but I'll get a lttle preview of Sunday's concert hopefully.

Not that I am rubbing it in or anything...

But today...

Got up at a leisurely 8 30am, took ages over my breakfast, reading and listening to music. Then went and had a shower and got dressed and made up and got taken to lunch with two of my girlfriends, had a particularly delicious Tartine a la Grecque (Open sandwich of warm feta cheese, baby plum tomatoes, grilled courgettes, green beans and Niçoise olives with flame-roasted red pepper tapenade on grilled sourdough bread), followed by a leisurely coffee and gossip. Then went back to my friend's and put the world straight for the afternoon. Got home to find D had hoovered the house and put some washing on. Now have feet up and the intention of watching a film. This is the life. :D :D What are all the stresses and strains of work all about? SO tempted to write a letter of resignation and just do this sort of thing EVERY day... :D

(Before you all want to kill me I will tell you that I have had a term of pure hell at work, and yet another member of my team has resigned because they can't cope with my boss... so I do think I deserve it!! )

 Well, don't feel too envious, tomorrow I have the unenviable task of speaking to Mum's neighbours to give them the news that it looks like they'll have houses built next to them...

Film (DVD) I watched was The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. It was a good film, but really quite disturbing.

Which version? The good one or the American one? :D

Errr... I don't know how I would tell. I didn't know there was more than one version...

EDIT Having looked it up, I assume it's the "rubbish version" I watched. I thought it was good (but disturbing - not least because it stars Daniel Craig who reminds me of Norman Wisdom to look at for some reason, and a girl called Rodney!!)

Yep the "real" version is better.

...Back to Loseley Park with K's fiancee's parents so they can see what it was like. When we got there (it's about an hour's drive) we found that there was a garden show on there. There were also signs up around the tythe barn saying there was a private function. Naturally, I was completely undeterred, and headed towards the barn. A's mum was saying "but there are signs up...we shouldn't go in..." Well, what would hurt to put our noses round the door? Found that actually, they were just clearing up after the event, and so I asked a man if we could all go in to have a peek, and we could. In fact, we got in for a proper look around an to ask questions.

Next stop, house and gardens. The lady on the toll booth was all for charging us £5 a head for each of the six of us. I was a bit miffed about that, after all, we will be spending vast amounts of money there in a couple of year's time. So, a bit of tactical procrastination at the front of the queue and we all got free entry into both. :D

Now I just thought I was being sensible, because what's the point of going all that way and not seeing anything? A's mum said I was the best gatecrasher she'd ever seen in action.   Pushy? Me? Never!!!

Anyway, the upshot was that it was a glorious sunny day, the gardens were fabulous and we had a nice day out. :D

Been to Hereford to pick the girls up after the National schools symphony orchestra concerts. They have both had a really good week and want to go again next year! Lally wasn't sure she wanted to go, but has had a lovely time, so I'm glad I persuaded her. I'm shattered after sitting through two concerts, and driving there and back.

Not surprised. That's a heck of a long day. Glad they enjoyed themselves, though! :D
