You'll terrify the poor man saying things like that. No worries, if your puzzly thing happens, then great, if it doesn't, nothing's lost. No pressure whatsoever.

Unfortunately, of course, it is a 'short' weekend, as we lose an hour's sleep on Saturday night which is hard luck . However, the compensation is being able to catch up at other times.....MBH wrote:Hoping to catch up on some sleep over this long weekend

On the other hand (to my previous post) - I guess the next few days will give much chance of a rest...... but who careseirian wrote:travelling to Devon to celebrate a belated birthday with Wulfruna
So yes, Thomas has arrived safely, together with his taxi drivers, and we look forward to a happy holiday. He has yet to discover that Uncle Scurra is due to arrive as well later on next week - that could add to the excitement!

Yes - just arriving back from working in the bar, and about to go round making sure all clocks jump an hour forwards.Wulfruna wrote:Unfortunately, of course, it is a 'short' weekend, as we lose an hour's sleep on Saturday night which is hard luck . Re: Today I've mostly bin...
We've had Dibble to stay, and today we had K and A round for lunch, then went to Nomansland common, armed with painted eggs. Had a bit of a walk, rolled some of the eggs down the hill, and then had a great game of "egg boules". Great fun was to be had with a rope swing, too. we then came home for home made curry (and K had made a Mary Berry extravaganza with meringue, lemon curd, cream and chocolate mini eggs.) We had two unexpected visitors who ended up getting invited to eat, too, and have been playing games and eating chocolate. So much for the diet, eh? Still, great fun.

How was the lemon meringue thingy? It's what I've requested for my birthday cake, so I'd be very interested to hear how it actually turns out and how easy/hard it was to make.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
She did have problems making the nest shapes on top of the base, and also the lemon curd didn't set as much as it should have (although I have had the exact same problem with lemon curd not setting for no apparent reason sometimes too, not sure why that happens). So it perhaps wasn't as beautiful as it should have been, however it was absolutely scrumptious.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
... having a tooth extracted. First noticed it about 3 days ago with a slight ache, which got worse the following day. The journey home on Thursday wasn't fun at all, and I didn't get any sleep last night, so it was off to the Dental Access Centre first thing this morning for someone to replace a filling. Of course, as soon as the injection wore off it was back to full on pain, so Sigur phoned our usual dental practice who managed to find a slot with someone I'd not seen before who looked at the pain I was in and suggested he just removed the tooth. So now I'm feeling bruised, but a lot better than I was! He was really good - took him longer to give me the pain killing injections than it did to actually remove it.

Toothache is horrible isn't it? It seems to invade everything. Glad you got it sorted.

You know you have my sympathy - I've been down that route a number of times. Don't stint on pain killers.
Today I've been getting my eyes tested, and deciding to dump vari-focal idea.

Varifocals are great.
I resisted getting them, but found I always had the wrong pair on, never had my reading glasses with me when I needed them, would find I was driving the car in my reading glasses, unable to see where I was going etc. Varifocals were the answer. Does take a couple of days to get used to them though.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Yes, I love my varifocals too, although the first few days were definitely odd.... (yes that's the appropriate smiley as it feels as if your eyes are vaguely rolling.....) But I know that some people prefer bifocals, which can also be confusing at first.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I've tried them for over 2 years - cost a fortune, and I'm still reading over the top of them. Total waste. Just need that bit of help with middle distance - putting cables into slots, etc.
Distance glasses will still be 95% of my wearing.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I think I need to get mine adjusted. I no longer feel as if I'm using the right bit and I think for using my laptop I'm tilting my head too much, so I keep getting neck ache.
The first two days I felt really sea sick, but adjusted after that.
