I've bin...out walking in the beautiful sunshine. :D Oh, and out for a pub lunch in the middle. And then convincing my grumpy husband that yes, he really does want to book a holiday to Tuscany. :D YAY!!

..... taking our current visitor out (who shall be nameless but is known to some of you ;) ) to enjoy the sunshine on Dartmoor - with daffodils and primroses and celandines sparkling along the roadsides and lambs playing in the fields on the way. Isn't it lovely to feel it might be Spring at last :D ?
Of course, I am well aware that things must still be pretty difficult elsewhere after all that snow - it is so easy to forget when it disappears from the headlines.....

And Eirian dear - hope you've recovered from your ordeal and that the tooth fairy paid a visit??

We were walking and admiring all the wildlife and flowers today, but there was still some snow in little pockets, in ditches and hedgerows. I couldn't get over the difference between yesterday and today!!

We spread the last of the snow on the front lawn out yesterday as it was a foot deep in places, but had melted in others, and chopped up the biggest lumps in attempt to get it to thaw. That's the fourth time this week we have respread it because it was three or four feet deep in places at the beginning of the week. Now the lawn has standing water on it as it is so soggy.

Out walking again - there were 6 of us this time. Had a lovely walk in the Chess Valley, from Flaunden, via Latimer, then stopped for a drink in the pub garden. :D These aren't my pictures, just some off t'internet so you can see where we were.

Today I was at my physio having my regular MOT. The receptionist was saying what a busy morning she was having. Lots of phone calls from people who had spent the weekend gardening!!!!

I had to laugh at this. An elderly man, complete with walking stick, fell outside our local shop. The shopkeeper picked him up and sat him down for a while and went and got his shopping for him.

I offered to drive him home as he was quite shaken. "Its so kind of you both" said the man. I replied that I hoped someone would do the same for me in the same circumstances.

"I bl**dy wouldn't!" he retorted.

I took him home anyway.

...Shopping.
I needed to get a present for a colleague who is leaving, so had to go to the dreaded Hobbycraft, AKA "Crafts R Us". Anyway, while I was there I had an inspiration for a cake to make for her too (usual sort of Bunny planning!! ) She is a frenetic "crafter" and knits baby clothes and doll clothes which she sells on ebay. I'm going to TRY to make her a cake which looks like a basket of wool, with knitting needles coming out of it. What do you reckon my chances are of it working?

...Out walking, again. I've been on a mission this Easter - I've walked at least 50 miles over the past two weeks. This is in preparation - I'm shortly going to start walking the Ridgeway. :D

Anyway, today's walk was a nice one, starting from Berkhamsted, then quickly up over fields to Ashridge then back along the Grand Union Canal. There were fine views over the valley, and I could hear lots of different birds Chiff-Chaffs, Willow Warblers, Great Tits, Skylarks to name but a few. There were lots of bright yellow butterflies around too. :D The sign in the Alpine Meadow nature reserve said that we might see basking lizards, but we didn't spot any of those. Oh, and sunshine again, how lovely! :D

(Well, OK this was yesterday...)
...going to a "hen" night. And all I can say is "what's that all about??" Ira (the "hen) is 50, and has a daughter of 25. This is her second marriage to my friend's brother. AND YET - we had all the "stuff" which apparently has to go along with a hen night - plastic willy straws, stick on moustaches, whistles, fluorescent bangles, "L" plates, really quite nasty Greek food, having so much trouble fitting on the "dance floor" that we ended up dancing in the restaurant kitchen (much to the amazement of the cooks!!), oh, and a waiter armed with a giant inflatable penis. I'm actually PRETTY confident that she might have already seen one or two of those by her age!!

Still, obviously I joined in with the spirit of it, forced myself to look cheerful whilst being forced to dance to awful things like The Spice Girls and Gangnam Style. Then afterwards, being seen staggering down the road wearing plastic willy straws as hair pins and modified stick on moustaches made into moustache, beard, eyebrows and hairy chest to our lift home. I must say that I'm slightly concerned that I was spotted by one of our new invigilators at work - she'll be one of 20 that I have to deliver a training session to next Tuesday!!

And yes, I know what you're all thinking, YES, I am...REALLY classy!!
