Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I'm impressed that the red hasn't just gone pink if you're going grey. I used to have gold and copper highlights until last year, but then I noticed that the copper bits just went pale pink after about a month because the hair underneath is going grey*.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
... getting up bright and early for my 15.5hr day. It'll be long and boring, but hey, it's an important job, sat in a polling station waiting for the 100 or so people who can be bothered to come and vote.
So, for the sake of people like me around the country, please ease the boredom and go and vote.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I moved house in November. I may be going on a bit of an exploration to actually locate my local polling booth. Not 100% sure where it is!!!
Re: Today I've mostly bin...
To be honest I'd forgotten it was voting today. All our adverts and leaflets seem to have been about a certain referendum, with a note added on 'Please also vote for us in Europe'. I'll be so glad when this is all over. My only wish is that if there is a NO vote we are not allowed another referendum for at least 50 years!!
Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Let's try and keep politics out of this - although I will add that I hope everyone has been and voted (or will go and vote); even if you don't want to vote for anyone, go and spoil your ballot or something!
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I have just taken my newly 18 year old for his first trip to the polling station. Not sure if his big sister is voting as she is in the middle of exam week, and OH isn't because he has had to go to Scotland and won't be back until after the polls close. Average age of voters at the polling station plummeted by about 60 years when we walked in! They seemed to be doing steady business.
Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I also found the one for me in Gibraltar - my first time voting down here...... so have cast my vote for the South West England (inc Gib) constituency!

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I've been. I really dithered about who to vote for because they are all as useless as each other IMHO.
But I went and hopefully at least counteracted the vote of the chavs next door but one (with the England flag who claim that it "they can't stop their dog from snarling and threatening the little kids from the Pakistani family next door," since it's "a well known fact that Alsatians are naturally racist." )

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I must admit I wasn't sure I could be bothered after a long busy day at work. I have had only one election communication and had to look really hard to see which party it was from as the mention was hidden away half way down the back of the leaflet.
Nevertheless (just for you Eirian ) I came home, put a potato in the oven for supper and walked down to the village to vote. And I managed to dodge the showers too.
I was a bit gobsmacked to see there were 15 options for my one cross.
Eeeny meeny ... oops, not allowed to say that either are we?

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
We had one party (can't remember which) that sent us a leaflet addressed to three of us and a separate leaflet addressed to our young voter. He was very pleased that he had a special individual one, until I pointed out that it was the same leaflet with bigger print!
Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Returning from a job in Alderney, which included flying in a little plane, with a leak over my seat, which dripped on me. Except for when it took off, when the nose lifted, all the collected water ran backwards to my leak spot and poured all over me.
A lovely little island. A vague sense of sadness abounds though - it seems like it's unspoilt by over tourism, but the tiny population struggles to provide the critical mass required for a vibrant community.
Just got back from polling too.

Sounds rather a soggy flight!
Hope you weren't wearing your best clothes.
And to giraffe, I believe that my son got his own election communication whereas N and I shared. He is registered for a postal vote but we weren't sure we could get the papers to wherever he is in Peru in time for him to send it back again. So he won't have voted.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
well, I'm back and we had a massive 209 people come into vote... but there were a lot of new voters which was interesting. I think a lot of the regulars now have postal votes though, so assuming they voted as well, that's 430 voted out of a total of 1390 registered.
Mind you, my polling station is quite hard to find/get to, so hopefully they'll change that for the General Election next year.
Glad to hear so many of you voted. As Scurra says, you should vote, even if it's to spoil your paper - just write something interesting on it if you are going to - it makes the count more interesting!

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Just bin to see The National Theatre Live film of the stage performance of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time. It was absolutely brilliant. If you get a chance to see it I'd thoroughly recommend it. Luke Treadaway's performance was amazing.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I would have liked to see that but N was busy this evening - and having only been back at work a few days after my holiday last week I also wasn't sure I would be able to get away in time. I'm hoping there will be an encore showing we can go to.
We did go to King Lear a couple of weeks ago. It was very gory!.

I was also at this and throughly enjoyed it. The staging was unusual but very cleverly done. I found Luke Treadaway's performance riveting and am astonished at his ability to remember his lines and all the numbers.Bunnylump wrote:Just bin to see The National Theatre Live film of the stage performance of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time. It had some nice humorous moments, too, didn't it?

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I think today I've seen a "psychic doctor". Not knocking him.
I registered as a temporary resident in Withernsea and saw him immediately at 4.30. I hadn't opened my mouth and he told me I had mild COPD. This is something that is in dispute as a diagnosis with my own surgery. The label stands to flag me up for flu jabs etc but it is mild and they aren't sure if I should carry the label. I asked how he knew and he told me could tell by the change of my chest shape. He's never seen my chest before and it looks no different to me.
After having told him my history and usual medication he changed it and told me I didn't need antibiotics, I needed anti bacterials. He also said he'd rather I had less steroids per day but a longer term of them. He also changed my inhaler and told me not just to use it when necessary but to use it daily, even if its just one puff. He also told me I'd feel great by midnight. I do. I could move mountains.
He then stated, rather than asked, that there was a family history of stroke/heart disease. There is.
He told me it wasn't a problem for me because of my nails!!!! I asked him how he knew and he told me his father is a cardio surgeon and he can walk through an A & E and diagnose exactly who has what by their facial expressions. It wasn't until I got back that I realised just how much he had told me rather than asked, and I'd never set eyes on him before. Nor did he access my records from my own doctor because his computer was down
I think I need him to be my GP and I need to move so that he is.

Or should you just be concerned that the first thing he thought to do was to start staring at your chest??
