Sounds like a good doctor to me. As long as he does listen when you need him to and doesn't always assume he knows the answers without asking the right questions.

Yes, that's generally how good "psychics" work - they are naturals at things like body language and small visual and spoken clues, which they put together with their experience to draw plausible conclusions (I will state for the record that I do not believe any of them are psychic in the traditional "mind reading" sense.) In a way, it's merely a particular type of expertise garnered over years of practise, which looks impressive to people who don't know what they are seeing. I would imagine that it's a very useful skill for a doctor!

Consider puzzle solving as a comparison: when you know nothing about how they work, they look completely mystifying. But slowly you learn some tricks and they become less so. But to someone who doesn't know any of the tricks, they still look completely mystifying.

I might have been had he not kept eye contact with me the whole time and only listened to my back rather than my front. Obviously no eye contact at that time

Yes, you probably have a point there. Actually, though, I just managed to get D involved in helping me to solve one. He usually is of the opinion that the can't be bothered to do puzzles where you have to work out what to do as well as actually doing it. But, as I pointed out, much to his dismay, he was actually the one who spotted what to do this time. So he'd better not refer to me as the "puzzle nerd" again.

Welcoming my wonderful grandson for a holiday week in glorious Devon
Not to mention his kind parents who braved the bank holiday traffic (and rain) to drive him down here.......
He has grown up so much since we last saw him at Christmas - his progress is amazing! It is hard to believe that he is barely five years old and already able to read quite advanced stuff - and is clearly interested in it all.
He is a great joy and we are looking forward to having fun on the beach once the sun comes out (promised for Monday onwards)

...Went to a wedding reception yesterday, all rather dramatic, it seems that the 78 year old Great Uncle, who was a priest from Ireland and was conducting the ceremony, passed out directly after the mass. He was rushed to hospital with a suggested blocked heart artery... The family members who went with him were then unable to make their (very long) speeches at the appointed time, consequently by the time we got there at 7 30pm, they were only just starting to take the photos!!

Anyway, eventually all was well, the Great Uncle was discharged (mind you, he was at Watford General so they probably don't actually know what they are doing), the bride looked wonderful, K did a fantastic job as a bridesmaid (all dressed in emerald green this time!), the vintage Austin Healey wedding car made it all the way across the county without incident, the Irish jigs were hysterical. I had a great time (well, obviously apart from the killer heels and having to negotiate poppers (ladies will know what I mean!! )

...To the pub quiz. Won it again by an embarrassingly large margin AND had a lady who thought I was my son in law's wife! It was hysterical, because his face was CLASSIC.

Yes, but very long, and then the motorway was closed for roadworks, so I had to go on a 10 mile diversion on the way home. If I had known I would have gone through the city centre and been home much quicker. I had a very sleepy elephant with me when I got home.

I did the trip to Essex to see my Dad earlier today, and the M25 was its usual fun self. So I can sympathise.
