Something about straws and camels comes to mind - but some of them have two humps, so I hope you can hang on to that one..... (think I'm mixing my metaphors there, but hey ho.....).

...To see The Imitation Game. It was sort of like watching him play Sherlock in a 1930s suit. Not bad, but I did find myself wondering just how much artistic license had been used.

No more than any other "biopic" does - certainly the book it was based on is generally well-regarded as being accurate (as opposed to, say, Enigma, which was deliberately a work of fiction and could therefore excuse the liberties...) I thought it was OK but elevated by the acting - Keira Knightly was surprisingly good, and the kid was amazing.

Yes, I agree with that - I don't normally like Keira Knightly, but she was really good in this, and the boy, Alex Lawther (who played the young Turin and didn't particularly look like Benedict Cumberbatch) managed to convey the same facial expressions, speech and even walk brilliantly. The film wasn't too fanciful in general, but particularly the bit where "Christopher" suddenly solved the Enigma code, Joan immediately worked out that a ship was about to be blown up and the other team member instantly realised that his brother just happened to be on that exact ship seemed coincidental, to say the least!

Phew, this has been a manic week. Today I've mostly bin...to the pottery project, painting a plum tree. Like you do.

I would really like to see the film but the problem for me is that it has Benedict Cumberbatch who I find rather creepy. Do I want to pay money to be creeped out by him at the cinema? :?

Today I have been picking raspberries! Not a lot admittedly but a good handful, and we only have a couple of bushes.

Creepy? I think he's great! But personal taste and all that. I think the creepiest men on the planet are Jimmy Carr and Keith Lemon.

shopping. We got to Milton Keynes at about 10am, and finally left at 9pm. But the good news is that I now have most of my Christmas presents. Phew.

Golly, well done you! I'm not sure I would have the stamina for that. I tend to do my Christmas shopping in several shorter trips to various nearby towns as they all have different shops. Or online! :)

I've never heard of Keith Lemon, should I know who he is? The other actor I find creepy is David Tennant but I imagine a few people will take issue with that too! (A certain rag doll was quite incensed when I once said as much to her  )

Well, I think his real name is Leigh Frances (Keith Lemon is the character name.)

But he makes my flesh creep.

I find Keith Lemon slightly creepy too but, to be fair, he's sort of meant to be - it's a bit like accusing Alan Partridge of being self-obsessed. A character is always meant to be an exaggeration of traits that the rest of us wouldn't particularly like to be considered as (if that makes sense!)

Yes, it does make sense, but he makes my flesh creep regardless of what character he is playing.

Well I'm still not much the wiser but based on that I think I am happy in my ignorance.

I think Benedict Cumberbatch looks like an alien. Something about the position of his eyes being slightly unusual! And I can't stand Keira Knightly, she grins too much.

Image He definitely doesn't fit in with the "golden ratio" that's for sure.

I bet your ears are far too long for your face - they are about twice the length after all!

My little red nose is probably too round!

Yeah, but the bells on the hat help a bit (speaking from experience...)

I think the rather depressing part is that my face is getting lower as the years pass by. Well, along with the rest of me.

Are you saying you are getting shorter? :?

And to Scurra - you have rather more bells than I do, but one will do me fine. :D
