Home printers
For all of you who know about these things. What would you tell anyone with an HP printer to do with it?

Re: Home printers
Well, I don't know anything at all about these things but we do have a HP printer, which has been pretty good. It's one of those ones you can scan things on too.

Re: Home printers
How much do you pay for ink cartridges?
PS The other one has been deleted. No idea how the topic doubled up.

Re: Home printers
We get the big cartridges for about £40 from Amazon and it lasts us for between 6 months to a year.

Re: Home printers
Surely what you do and cost of ink cartridges etc depends on the model?
Re: Home printers
That's right - ink cartridges depend on the model. Which? magazine regularly do reports on ink cartridges and whether it is better to buy the "official" ones or to risk getting cheaper refill versions, which don't always live up to expectations and may not save as much money as advertised if they don't last as long. But some are good value. The general agreement is that HP printers are good quality, but there are of course other alternatives.
Not too sure what your original question was asking - were you thinking of chucking it out or recycling?? Otherwise the simple answer is "print" ! Or were you thinking of a replacement?

Re: Home printers
Yes I was also a bit confused by the original question. We used to have an HP printer until 2 or 3 years ago which we were pretty happy with and we only replaced it as we wanted to get one that was wifi and Sainsbury's happened to have an Epson one that seemed good value.
Re: Home printers
Yes, bemused too. If you mean "should I use it or chuck it out?" then unless there is some damage or a specific problem with it, the answer would be "use it". HP printers tend to be reliable, and have no reason to be on the automatically throw it out list (like a Lexmark would be).
So, um, what did you mean really?
