Singing

(to the tune of the Kaiser Chiefs)
Oh my god I can't believe it
I've never seen this much mess before...

(while attempting to clear up after delayed "Christmas" yesterday. The yung 'uns have all gone to the pub. Mrs S is laid up. P-Dawg is being pretty good keeping her company and out of my way. Got 100 tonnes done. Only 500,000,000 tonnes to go, which I will make a new start on later.)

Hope you had a good delayed Christmas. Time to put your feet up I reckon! :D
Assuming you don't want to join the yung'uns at the pub!

And get them to do their share when they get back again. ;)

Ah, the downside of Christmas! Hope you had a good day though! :D

We have been trying to atone for the Christmas / New Year excesses by going for a "walk". Actually, it was more correctly a "slide / slurp / splosh" through the mud and lying water everywhere. Clay and chalk in this area is a horrible combination when it's been so wet - the clay won't let the water escape, and the chalk makes it like a skating rink. Still, we found a nice cafe for some soup en route, which helped! :D

Now they're back making bubble & squeak from Christmas leftovers, consequently along with more washing up (which still hasn't been completely cleared yet anyway).

Well done on all your efforts - I am sure it was appreciated!
Hope the New Year will be less stressful than the last... :D

Golly! Hope you are all OK. And that the floods subside soon.

We are fine, up a hill. No flood of rising waters will get us. We might possibly get "washed off" the hill, but the main concern is whether the road ices and becomes impossible to get up or down safely. (It was very slushy this morning, with a light covering of snow on the car to clear, no problem but won't take more than a couple of degrees drop to be very dodgy tonight.)

Snow socks for tyres are meant to be good, Ashley used to use them on call outs for power outages in really bad snow before he got the monster truck thing which is four wheel drive. The tyre socks enabled him yo get all over the place in his car even when the town was gridlocked by snow.

When snow is forecast here now we move our cars about a quarter of a mile away to where the road is likely to have more traffic and possibly even be gritted. Better a trudge to the car than being stuck unable to go anywhere, which we were once for about 10 days a few years ago!

That's the plan here too, everyone parks on the road at the bottom of the hill and walks up. It's only like going up to the 20th storey by stairs. Puff... wheeze...

That must actually be hard work for you. Hoping there isn't a bad freeze for too long.

Sorry to see the Crannog in such a state! It is such a glorious place when the water is lapping around the landing stage on a pleasant summer evening... And the seafood is amazing - it was our favourite destination in the years we visited Sockland regularly :D
Hope there was not too much damage done.

Well the Crannog is open again and serving, so they've bounced back now the waters have subsided again.

On the way back after a week in the Hebrides. Nervous the ferry was going to be cancelled but we're on it now. Crossing is not exactly smooth, it's blowing a hoolie from SSW and we're headed mostly east, so corkscrewing quite a bit and we've only just got to sea.

And just got off ferry at Uig (on Skye) after a perfectly smooth crossing. I can't believe how stable it was once we got out of the Hebrides.
