Dramaticat - keep a note of all the dates / times and durations of the power cuts. We had a massive ongoing problem with our supply; there is a clause whereby if your supply is interrupted by more than a certain number of hours in any given period, you can claim money back from EDF. We got £50 back, which didn't compensate for the inconvenience, but was still worth doing.

...and I'm back on here whinging. I've twice now been spoken to rudely by a senior member of staff who is, frankly, a bully. She's so used to frightening people into submission that she doesn't like it that I stand up to her when she is rude AND totally in the wrong (which she has been on both occasions). I'm SO angry with being treated like this that I'm seriously considering putting an official complaint in about her. She can stick THAT in her pipe and smoke it. You never know, she might get the message that I'm NOT to be messed with. My normal modus operandi is to get the best out of people by encouragement or pleasant behaviour. However, if someone is not prepared to treat me as a civilised adult, then FRANKLY they deserve ALL THEY GET. :geek:

As ever, I'm convinced you are one of those people I should definitely try to keep on my side, and not on the opposition!!!

What a horrible rude old BAG. ;)

Will any witnesses support you? If so put in your complaint. Stick strictly to the facts and see what happens.

Well, they took the generator away last night, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed about the power ...

But now can I whinge about the piece of office furniture I ordered at the end of September which still hasn't arrived and which nobody seems to be doing anything about. Yet THEY HAVE ALREADY TAKEN MY MONEY FOR IT. :x

I feel a little better after writing them a snotty email this afternoon, but even so ...

Don't *think* I've mentioned this before, but need a whinge about it.

New Year's Eve is a friday this year. That means there's only 2 out of the 3 admin staff in our section in (one only works 4 days a week). Neither of us realised it was a Friday when we talked about leave over the festive period. This means neither of us are around on that day (I'm taking Thomas to visit Devon :) ). Marie (the one who doesn't usually work Fridays) has kindly agreed to come in specially to cover typing, but she has to leave at 2pm.

Apparently this isn't good enough. There HAS to be cover all afternoon (which given we are usually allowed to leave at 3pm, is the grand total of 1 hour). And, it has to be someone in our section (we had spoken to a different section (still Legal, just not Property) and another admin was willing to cover - but they wouldn't be able to cope with complex property matters apparently!).

So, apparently I ought to be prepared to come back from my holiday, 2 days early, just to provide 1 hour's worth of typing cover for some (very) hypothetical typing, that couldn't be sent out in the post (last post 11am), and anyone it was sent to wouldn't read until the following Tuesday anyway...

Suffice it to say, I'm not going to. Everyone else we have spoken to agree that this is a rediculous request. It's just one person in our section who is digging his heels in and insisting the rules on cover are adhered to.

Bah.

(oh and on top of that my work pc blew up, so I've lost all my pics of Thomas that I keep here, so haven't got his smiley face as wallpaper on this PC I've borrowed until I get a new one)

Agree, then phone in sick. You cant be sick and on holiday at the same time. So, the rules are if you go sick you cant be on holiday. As you can self certify for 7 days that should cover it ;) Which also means that you get back some of your holiday days if you work it right. Not your fault you went sick while at mums is it ?

You could always try telling the silly person that this is what you will do if pushed and see how he takes it. Common sense usually prevails. Throw in the suggestion if you get ill at mums he could always drive there to verify but it might take you a whole week to recover.

Aargh I HATE petty minded people like that. :x And I'm prepared to bet that HE wouldn't come back off HIS holiday if he was needed.

Following on from my whinge about the silly cow at my work, it's all kicked off now. My boss took exception to her latest treatment of me : basically I was following procedure TO THE LETTER in a hugely stressful situation, and the silly bag decided to criticise what I was doing IN FRONT OF THE CHILDREN concerned. (And YET AGAIN) she was absolutely in the wrong.)

This morning I had the deputy head coming and speaking to me and apologising. Please note, the woman who caused all the problems HASN'T apologised. :x

What do you reckon, should I take her out to the bike sheds and give her a good slapping?  It might get me the sack but it'd make me feel a lot better! 8-)

well, our original plan (agreed with my immediate manager) was for me to agree and then the car break down while in Devon, but it's now been made such an issue of (my manager is being brilliant and is doing her best to get it sorted - not sure if that's because she's scared of what I might say to the person concerned if it's not sorted  ), I don't think I could get away with it! But someone did suggest that very thing (about him coming to Devon to check) today.

Oh, and Bunny, I reckon a good slapping is what she needs.

 I could charge for spectators in ringside seats. There are lots of people who'd love to do the exact same thing!! Just to give you an idea of what she's like: when my nephew was at that school, she was his head of year, and for no apparent reason she didn't like him. He had long blonde hair right down his back (not my taste, but his choice!!) He was standing in a queue waiting for a teacher outside a classroom, when the idiot behind him SET LIGHT to his hair with a lighter. Rather unsurprisingly, he went mad, and turned round and pinned the idiot to the wall, and shouted at him. Silly old bag (henceforth to be referred to as SOB) gave the idiot a one day internal exclusion, and Paul a TWO DAY internal exclusion. HOW is that fair?

Shall I stop moaning now??

I might be out of date with this but as you have a toddler are you entitled to take parental leave to look after Thomas? Sigur could be ill instead.

They're probably not capable :( Can't get their minds out of very stupid rule-following long enough to be good at anything.

Or perhaps I'm the one who goes sick (or collapse with exhaustion?) - needing a daughter's care and attention.... ;)

That is so ridiculous eirian, hope they sort it out so you don't have to lie (or even worse go in for an hour!!)

and Bunny - at least it has been noticed that you have been wronged even if the stupid cow isn't admitting it yet.

bunny if she keeps it up she'll get hers from her own actions
if there is ever a time when a conflict between you is grey
your boss will think better of you than her
every causeless complaint every snide comment she gives you
will turn round and bite her

your boss and work mates know your a good worker (even if skiving in a bunker half the time ;-) )

That is silly of them eirian
hope it sorts it self out ;-)

Could you suggest that if he has any vital work he could e mail it to you and you could do it remotely? Then, of course, the chances are that there wouldn't be anything to do anyway, and, of course, there will be that massive communication breakdown going on in Devon that week...

he's definitely not capable of doing it himself, although he is *slightly* more computer literate than some of the others in the section..
However, out of the 6 other people who are in that day, 3 of them started out their lives as legal secretaries (before training to be legal executives) and are at least as good as me at typing.
If we suggest this, though, he will say that they aren't there to do typing, but legal work!
My manager had a quiet word about it to our Head of Section who was very diplomatic when talking to her, but did say he would see what compromise they could reach. They were due to have a meeting yesterday afternoon, so I guess we'll see!

Just ignore me everyone- I just need somewhere to spout off.

My mother has her head up her backside because she cant now come and stay because she cant get out to get to the coach station. This is despite refusing our offer to go and get her on Tuesday night while we still could. We no longer can because we cant get the car out of the drive.

My son has head up his backside because he's now going to the airport to collect his sister. What he wanted to do was collect her and take her to his house overnight. Except she doesn't want to do that, because she'll a) have to get up early to get to us in the morning or B) stay there all day until he gets home from work. He lives on flat roads, wasn't a driver when he lived here and has only been a driver for less than 2 years and has naff all idea what hes talking about. I offered to book a taxi instead and save him the bother but thats not good enough either.

OH has his head up his backside because I need his music room to put people in so I've destroyed it.

Happy days!!!!
