Re: Today I've mostly bin...
It's just because someone was getting into trouble for not recording enough time, so we were trying to find out exactly how much time she should have recorded, given the number of days she was on leave... and it didn't add up...

Or if its like us then..... 1.25 is actually 1 hour and 15 minutes as they split the hour into just 4 segments of a quarter (or .25 in their working)!

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
For someone to have worked 95 hours and averaged 5.42 hours a day, that person must have worked for 17.5 days.
(95/17.5 = 5.428571 recurring.)
April 2010 has 30 days, of which 8 were at weekends, leaving 22. Five days were Fridays, so counting a Friday as a 'half-day' leaves 19.5 days. If this person worked on Good Friday but had Easter Monday and Tuesday off, that leaves 17.5 days.
Perhaps you need to consider that the person only works half a day on Fridays.

Nah, I reckon it was an accounting gremlin. Nasty little furry things which hide stuff from you - they hide all the money I KNOW I've got somewhere too...

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
thanks for the thought Cenwolf, unfortunately, the chart we had printed said that everyone should have recorded 95 hours, and there were various amounts of leave taken. I got the impression that the 95 hours were an average for a month over the year, and that only works if they are on 43 days leave, so I'm figuring that they must be expecting us to not record any time when earning flexi leave!

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I've done a few number crunches with the calculator, and here are my results:
Person working 4.5 days per week, at average of 5.42 hours per day, works for 24.4 hours per week (approx).
1200 hours per year/24.4 hours per week = 49.2 weeks (approx).
49.2 weeks is 246 working days (counting Friday as a whole day).
Which is 7 days short of the 253 working days a year.
Is this any help?

Eirian is currently reading..... "The Timesheet, and other works of fiction"
Back at the software house we used to have timeshees with 6-minute slots (to aid decimal calculation). On it we were supposed to put job numbers we were working on for chargable work, and support reference numbers to record support work.
It was always 100% truthful - as sure as I'm sitting here on this elephant dressed as Peter Pan

EDIT: Have you ever tried to get an elephant dressed as Peter Pan?

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Uh huh. It was immacculate conception. Well, that's how my husband described it, anyway...
Anyone wishing to donate gifts - gold's fine but just forget the frankinsense and myrrh, I have cupboards full of them already...ok?
EDIT when I first read that I thought you were referring to the elephant dressed as Peter Pan. You were very close to getting a sisterly slap round the earhole.

Oh, just fill in the blanks however you fancy. I do.
I think my cheeky brother is referring to my tagline. It should probably read "Back to reality with a bu(nnylu)mp". Now there's a thought.

I must admit when I saw it earlier I did wonder if you wanted to tell us about your bump, and then promptly forgot about it again

Actually, I think I'd have to have shot myself if that had happened. Well, after shooting my husband first.

Whereas I'd have been busy trying to sell my story to the highest bidding tabloid.

To LAT
Well, yes, I would consider that option, but I don't really think many tabloids would be that fussed about a story of a purple rabbit experiencing immaculate conception, would they?
To MBH
Actually, that could have happened. It would certainly explain the missing brain...and at the weekend I DID find myself looking through the mist at strange beings armed with pointed implements...or was that Janet with the corkscrew? I could never be too sure...

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I think most rabbits have less immaculate conceptions. But I don't know about purple ones.
I'm beginning to think this comes under the heading "Today I've mostly been talking a load of rubbish"

That's the best kind of talking. It's got to beat discussing important concerns like the general election and colours of belly button fluff, hasn't it?
EDIT Ok I'll shut up now. And apologies to anyone (/everyone) I've upset / offended. As ever.
